Notably, in New Zealand at this time it is winter and there is a large temperature difference with Vietnam.

In addition, jet lag also causes significant effects on Huynh Nhu and her teammates.

However, sharing in the morning practice session on July 7, coach Mai Duc Chung said he had a plan to overcome this.

“I have made plans for the players to get used to the weather, time zone and competition density. Today we will practice 2 sessions in the morning and afternoon, tomorrow the team will practice 1 session.

As the competition date gets closer, we will gradually reduce the training frequency, but still maintain high intensity so that the players can quickly get used to the competition density," said coach Mai Duc Chung.

Besides, the coach born in 1951 also said that the weather in New Zealand affects all teams participating in the tournament, not just the Vietnamese women's team.

“Like the US or the teams in Africa, they also come from hot weather areas before moving to the cold weather here.

The weather conditions are not always favorable, and teams will have to deal with them. The team that can overcome them faster and better will have an easier time.

We are in Napier for 6 days to play against the home team. This is a good test. The two friendly matches are a good opportunity for us to get used to the style of play, thereby gradually overcoming our difficulties," Mr. Chung continued.

Returning to the morning practice session on July 7, Mr. Chung let fitness coach Cedric Roger train the players a lot on playing football at high speed and handling in a narrow area.

According to plan, on July 10, the Vietnamese women's team will play a friendly match with host team New Zealand and 5 days later will compete with Spain.

At the 2023 World Cup, Huynh Nhu and her teammates will face the US women's team (July 22), Portugal (July 27) and the Netherlands (August 1) in the group stage.
