Mr. Chu Dinh Nghiem said: "I always aspire and dream of contributing to the Vietnam national team, but now is not the right time for me to work for the national team. I can work at the club, but I don't have experience working at the national team level."
Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem also expressed his opinion on choosing the head coach of the Vietnam national team. He added: "In my opinion, the team needs to determine its playing philosophy before finding a suitable coach. It is impossible to choose a coach without a philosophy and then have that person have difficulty working.
Cultural similarities are very important. I think we should choose Asians, maybe Japanese because they have a culture that builds on human qualities and is suitable for Vietnamese football. Frankly speaking, the players are not 100% professional. I studied abroad in Japan and saw that they build football according to their own philosophy, suitable for Japanese players, not chasing after immediate achievements."
Recently, the Vietnam Football Federation has temporarily appointed coach Hoang Anh Tuan to lead the Vietnam U23 team to participate in the U23 Asian tournament. Recently, many famous coaches have applied to be the head coach of the Vietnam national team.
There are two Korean coaches, Kim Do Hoon and Kim Sang Sik. Italian coaches are Emanuele Rinaldi, Roberto Donadoni, Spanish coach Luisma Hernandez, Swiss coach Christian Zermatten and German coach Mano Polking.
However, VFF is not in a hurry to appoint a new coach at this time. They need to carefully consider each criterion before working directly with each candidate.
