Then in the 13th minute of extra time, referee Tran Ngoc Nho awarded the home team a penalty after Nhat Minh fouled Manh Dung in the penalty area thanks to VAR consultation. Responding to Thanh Nien Newspaper's question "Was the penalty in the 103rd minute a harsh decision?", Coach Chu Dinh Nghiem shared: "I think it was a sensitive situation, but I haven't reviewed the video yet. In that situation, there were many players in the penalty area, the referee and the linesman were out of sight, then when VAR intervened, the decision was made. We will review the situation."
Mr. Nghiem said that the foul occurred in the 90+6 minute, after the match's extra time (5 minutes) had ended. Therefore, the coach of Hai Phong said that referee Tran Ngoc Nho should have blown the whistle right when the ball was in the air, instead of waiting for the ball to enter the penalty area, then there was a collision leading to a penalty.
"Actually, the referee should have blown the whistle before that situation (the collision between Nhat Minh and Manh Dung - PV) happened. When the ball is in the air, the match time has already ended. When the ball is in the air like that, the referee needs to blow the whistle to end the match. In that situation, the referee let it go too long, the referee blew the whistle at the 6th minute, at that time it was already past the time limit."

Hai Phong's strategist added: "The competition density is high, the physical strength of Hai Phong players is also declining, so I feel very sorry. When the competition density is continuous, teams must have a large force to cope, but Hai Phong team only has one squad, replacing other factors will cause instability. The referee listened to VAR for that collision in the penalty area. When the referee checked again, we believed it was a penalty. It was a victory that matched the strength of The Cong Viettel. Hai Phong team was strong, played well in the first half, we had a hard time but won deservedly.
Besides the superior force, the important thing is that we have prepared with young players, we have trained them so with their youth and ability, they have been able to develop their abilities. The young players of The Cong Viettel have a very good physical foundation and strength, and can demonstrate their abilities when entering the field."

Regarding the rumor that The Cong Viettel might recruit Dinh Trong - a former student of coach Duc Thang, currently playing for Binh Dinh team, The Cong Viettel's coach emphasized:
