TPO – Although the district has not yet issued an official directive, the principal of Thi Tran Secondary School (Vinh Thuan district, Kien Giang province) still decided to transfer the old school's facilities to the new school and announced a change of learning location.
On the afternoon of August 23, the People's Committee of Vinh Thuan district, Kien Giang province held a press conference to inform about the transfer of Thi Tran Secondary School from Vinh Dong 1 quarter to a new facility in Vinh Phuoc 2 quarter, Vinh Thuan town (the two schools are 3km apart).
Previously, many parents and teachers of Thi Tran Secondary School (Vinh Dong 1 Quarter, Vinh Thuan Town, Vinh Thuan District) reported that recently, the principal of this school arbitrarily sent people to transport the school's desks, chairs, and equipment to a new facility in Vinh Phuoc 2 Quarter. Regarding this school transfer, parents and teachers have not received official notice from the leaders of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee and the District Department of Education and Training.

Ms. Mai Thuy Oanh - Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Thuan district said that because the opening time of the new school year 2024 - 2025 is approaching, the facilities of Thi Tran Secondary School in Vinh Dong 1 residential area are seriously degraded, not ensuring the new school year, it is necessary to move to the school in Vinh Phuoc 2 residential area.
“Therefore, if we do not transfer schools now, it will be difficult to prepare for the new school year. Meanwhile, the plan from the Department of Education and Training is slow to be issued, making it difficult for the school to implement. Currently, part of the facilities and equipment have been transferred to the new location for the new school year,” Ms. Oanh said.
Regarding the information about the cost of transferring schools up to 2.8 billion VND, Ms. Oanh said that up to now, the Department of Education and Training has not submitted it, and the District People's Committee has not considered the cost of transferring the facilities of Thi Tran Secondary School.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Nguyen - Vice Chairman of Vinh Thuan District People's Committee added that up to this point, the district has not had any official document directing the transfer of the facilities of Thi Tran Secondary School from Vinh Dong 1 residential area to Vinh Phuoc 2 residential area.
“The school transfer is a policy of the District Party Committee, the District People's Committee has issued documents directing the implementation. However, the Department of Education and Training is still slow in implementing the process. Regarding the issue of facilities management, the district will establish an inspection team to conduct an inventory of assets for Thi Tran Secondary School. After the inspection results are available, if any loss or profiteering is discovered in this matter, depending on the level of violation, the district will handle it according to regulations,” said Mr. Nguyen.

Mr. Nguyen said that the District People's Committee will continue to direct the Department of Education and Training and relevant departments to urgently complete the documents and procedures for transferring the Thi Tran Secondary School facility, ensuring time for the new school year 2024 - 2025. At the same time, it will manage the facilities well, propagate and mobilize parents to feel secure in sending their children to study at the new school.
