On August 12, confirming with VietNamNet reporter, the leader of Hong Dan District People's Committee, Bac Lieu Province, said that he had received a report from the Department of Education and Training regarding information reflecting that teachers of Vinh Phu Primary School (Ninh Quoi A Commune) were playing cards on school grounds.

“The head of the district’s Department of Education and Training is busy on a business trip. Tomorrow (August 13), the district will invite the Department’s leaders to work to find a timely solution,” the district leader shared.

Previously, on July 18, the District Education and Training Department received a report: "Mr. Huynh Van Te - Principal of Vinh Phu Primary School allowed teachers to use the school library to play cards, affecting students". After receiving the information, the Department began to verify.

According to the verification results, it is true that administrators, teachers, and staff played cards in the library (on the side of the teachers' reading room). This happened many times, most of the administrators, teachers, and (male) staff of the school participated 1-2 times or more.

“The above mentioned incidents usually occur during recess, after professional activities, after labor events at school. No one organizes the gambling, but the management staff, teachers, and employees spontaneously invite each other to play.

The principal knew about this but did not take timely measures to prevent it. Managers, teachers, and employees gambled for drinks, sometimes cigarettes. The losing side had to pay, there was no gambling for money,” the report of the district’s Department of Education and Training stated.

For the above incident to occur, the District Department of Education and Training also determined that the main responsibility belonged to Mr. Huynh Van Te. From there, the Department requested the Chairman of the District People's Committee to handle Mr. Te according to regulations.

The Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang province has just publicly apologized to a former principal, because the former Director of the Department provided information to the press before the competent authority concluded that there were violations.
