The principal of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School (Ward 8, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau) is making a report explaining the poor quality of student meals.
Regarding the information that parents are heartbroken about their children's meals at school, on December 12, Mr. Nguyen Kim Hoi, Principal of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School (Ward 8, Ca Mau City, Ca Mau), said that the school is reporting and explaining according to the direction of the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau City regarding meals for boarding students.
Mr. Hoi also said that due to lack of staff, the catering unit hires staff from the school and his wife every day to serve lunch to boarding students. The catering unit pays each person 50,000 VND/day.
The principal of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School made a report explaining the meals of boarding students.
Regarding the above incident, Ms. Chau Anh, Deputy Director of Ca Mau Guest House, the unit providing meals for Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School, informed that meat, fish, vegetables and fruits were purchased from establishments with clear registration and contracts to ensure food hygiene and safety. Ms. Chau Anh also explained that the meal had a piece of fried egg and pumpkin soup with shrimp, the egg was fried in a pan with a handle, cut into 4 pieces. "The fried egg piece was very big, sometimes the children could not finish it... The soup had 2 pieces of taro and a piece of braised duck, because the taro was broken down and lying at the bottom, so it was not clear when taking pictures," Ms. Chau Anh explained.
It is known that on the morning of December 12, the Department of Education and Training of Ca Mau City will work with Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School and 3 other schools in the area with boarding students. At the same time, it will direct the principals of schools that organize boarding education to re-examine food supply contracts to ensure nutrition for students and strengthen the management of meal quality.
As Thanh Nien reported, previously, Ms. PTD, a parent whose child studies at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Primary School, complained about the quality of her child's boarding meals.
According to Ms. D., during her time at school, her child lost 4 kg and often complained that "I can't eat the food at school". After finding out, Ms. D. couldn't help but feel sorry for him. Meal of the child at school.

On December 11, the students’ meal consisted of rice, taro soup with meat, and duck stewed in coconut water. However, each meal contained only one piece of duck, two small pieces of taro, and a large amount of soup.
Similar situations were reported in previous days. Images showed that food was distributed very little, making it difficult to ensure nutrition for students.
Mr. Nguyen Kim Hoi said the school has more than 800 boarding students, with a fee of 44,000 VND/day divided according to the People's Council resolution. Of which, 3,000 VND is for electricity, drinking water and domestic water; 8,000 VND for organizing activities, the remaining 33,000 VND is allocated for lunch and snacks.
Specifically, lunch costs 24,000 VND, snack costs 9,000 VND with the menu usually consisting of cakes, milk... The school signed a contract with Ca Mau Guest House, this unit has provided meals for the school for the past 7 years.
When Thanh Nien reporters showed them photos of the lunch on December 11 and the previous days, Mr. Hoi admitted that there were indeed cases of uneven meals. This situation also happened on previous days. "Each student is given a lunch tray, if there is not enough food, the service staff will supplement it. However, due to the large number of students, the distribution is sometimes uneven. The school has repeatedly reminded Ca Mau Guest House and invited this unit to work to fix it," Mr. Hoi said.
Ms. Chau Anh also admitted that the uneven distribution of food portions was the fault of this unit, not related to the school. At the same time, she further explained that the photos of the students' meals did not fully reflect the situation when only the food was shown on top. However, when the school and parents complained, the unit would learn from the experience and commit to correcting the situation in the future.
