The effectiveness of the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address"

Việt NamViệt Nam22/11/2024

The campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address" has been implemented by the Vietnam Red Cross since 2008 with the goal of providing timely, practical and sustainable support to disadvantaged groups such as poor families, people with disabilities, orphans and people in special circumstances. This campaign not only solves immediate difficulties but also creates conditions for the supported groups to rise up, become independent and stabilize their lives in the long term.

The effectiveness of the campaign

The Provincial Red Cross Association has given a female calf from the Cow Bank project to Mr. Ha Van Chi's family (Veo area, Kiet Son commune, Tan Son district) to support the family's economic development.

In Phu Tho province, the Red Cross has been successful in connecting the community and mobilizing resources to support disadvantaged people. After more than 15 years of implementation, the campaign has achieved encouraging results, contributing significantly to poverty reduction and ensuring social security.

Since 2008, the Phu Tho Provincial Red Cross has conducted surveys and created profiles for more than 5,000 humanitarian addresses in need of assistance. Each commune in the province has an average of 20 humanitarian addresses in need of support. The association has deployed many forms of propaganda through media such as Phu Tho Newspaper, Phu Tho Radio and Television, as well as organized meetings with agencies, businessmen, enterprises and philanthropists to mobilize funding.

In the period from 2008 to 2017, the results achieved were 5,689 humanitarian addresses receiving assistance, accounting for 88.3% of the total number of addresses with records. The total value of assistance reached 19.47 billion VND, of which 13.24 billion VND was in cash, 3.98 billion VND was in kind (food, blankets, clothes, wheelchairs, health insurance cards, livestock and poultry breeds) and 2.24 billion VND from the date of public funds converted into money. However, this period also encountered some difficulties. The monitoring and management of humanitarian addresses were not strict and the mobilization of sponsorship mainly depended on the coordination of the Provincial Association, while the grassroots Association organizations were not proactive in connecting with sponsors. This led to irregular support and low efficiency.

The effectiveness of the campaign

The Provincial and Ha Hoa District Red Cross Association presented a humanitarian house sponsored by Ao Vua Joint Stock Company to Mr. Le Kim Sinh's family residing in Zone 2, Minh Coi Commune, Ha Hoa District, a poor household with extremely difficult circumstances.

In order to improve the effectiveness of the campaign, the Provincial Red Cross Society has made a number of important improvements since 2018. Specifically, the campaign was piloted in Binh Bo commune (now Binh Phu commune, Phu Ninh district), then learned from experience and deployed widely. The Society at all levels coordinated with local authorities, functional agencies and community organizations to survey, evaluate and plan specific assistance for each humanitarian address.

One of the important new points of this period is the enhancement of responsibility at the grassroots level. The Red Cross Society at the commune level proactively meets and mobilizes organizations and individuals in the commune, from schools, agencies, and volunteer clubs, to sponsor, support finances and food for humanitarian addresses in the commune. This not only helps to form a stable source of assistance but also creates a widespread movement, enhancing the spirit of sharing and solidarity in the community.

An important factor that helps the campaign to have a strong influence is the combination of propaganda work and the application of information technology. The Provincial Red Cross Association has coordinated with Phu Tho Radio and Television to build a monthly "Humanitarian Television" column, broadcast the program "PTV - Connecting Love" weekly, and use social networking sites such as Facebook, Fanpage, Zalo group to mobilize sponsorship.

In particular, since 2020, the Vietnam Red Cross Society has proactively uploaded information to the electronic humanitarian address system (iNHANDAO). The entire province has established and updated profiles of 2,199 humanitarian addresses on this system, creating conditions for domestic and international organizations and individuals to access, verify and provide direct support.

After more than 15 years of implementation, the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address" has achieved outstanding results. Many humanitarian addresses have not only received timely support but also developed sustainably, some families have been supported to build houses, completely treat diseases, give seedlings, breeds, create jobs and income, helping them overcome difficulties and have a life equal to the community at the grassroots level.

Localities such as Viet Tri city, Lam Thao district, Cam Khe, Tam Nong, Yen Lap, Tan Son, and many other communes and wards have actively participated and achieved high efficiency in supporting humanitarian addresses. Many businesses, organizations and volunteer clubs inside and outside the province have also accompanied the campaign, sponsored and helped those in difficult circumstances. Long-term partners such as: Provincial General Hospital, Hung Vuong General Hospital, Phu Tho Telecommunications, Tan Phong Joint Stock Company, Cosmos I Technology Company Limited, Provincial Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee, along with Red Cross Volunteer Clubs, volunteer clubs inside and outside the province.

The campaign “Each organization, each individual associated with a humanitarian address” has gradually shifted from individual mobilization, to large-scale mobilization and community responsibility. The role of the Red Cross is increasingly affirmed as an important bridge in humanitarian activities. All levels of the Association have continuously improved the quality of work, from the survey stage, selecting humanitarian addresses, to mobilizing sponsorship and organizing assistance.

In the coming time, the Association at all levels will continue to do a good job of forecasting needs, strengthening coordination with press agencies and social organizations to introduce humanitarian addresses, and mobilizing resources from the community. At the same time, the Association will focus on direct, timely and practical assistance activities, especially for people with disabilities, orphans, single elderly people and people with serious illnesses. Each year, the Association at all levels will strive to maintain management and assistance of at least 450 humanitarian addresses, and support at least one new address at each Association facility.

This campaign is not only a simple act of charity but also a profound expression of love, solidarity, and responsibility of the community towards the disadvantaged. “Love others as you love yourself” – that is the consistent message of the campaign, affirming the values of humanity and the good traditional morality of the Vietnamese people.
