The self-managed fleet of boats supporting each other at sea in Nam Thinh commune coordinates with functional forces to participate in the fight against smuggling at sea.
When it was first established in 2016, the Nam Thinh Commune Self-Managed Boat Team for Mutual Support at Sea faced many difficulties due to the small number of members, many old means of communication, not ensuring the quality of communication at sea; activities were not yet in order, so it did not attract many members to participate.
Fisherman Bui Xuan Cu, Captain of the Self-Managed Boat Team supporting each other at sea in Nam Thinh commune, shared: Faced with these difficulties, the core members of the Self-Managed Boat Team have proactively coordinated with officers and soldiers of Cua Lan Border Post and Cua Lan Border Control Station to organize training sessions and raise awareness for fishing boat owners and crew members about the benefits of participating in the Self-Managed Boat Team; mobilize resources to invest in rescue equipment. Thanks to good propaganda and mobilization work, we have so far recruited 50 members with 50 fishing boats of all types and capacities from 30CV - 400CV. From 2016 to present, the members have provided the authorities with 4 useful pieces of information on smuggling and illegal trading of drugs; supported the rescue of many fishermen in distress and fishing boats in trouble at sea; Actively coordinate with border guards and military forces to conduct drills on natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue with good results. Every quarter and every month, the Team evaluates the results of its activities, commends and rewards crew members and ship owners who have made great contributions to the Team's activities, rescuing people in distress at sea.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Dang, Chief of Cua Lan Border Guard Station, commented: Not only helping each other develop the economy and support each other at sea, members of the Self-Managed Boat Team supporting each other at sea in Nam Thinh commune have provided a lot of useful information to help the Provincial Border Guard force do a good job of ensuring security and order in the localities in the coastal border area. This model has been actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality, protecting security and order in the sea of the Fatherland.
