On February 22, the Vietnam SPS Office and the Tentamus Innovation Center (Tentamus Group) signed a memorandum of cooperation to deploy a software system to notify contents and regulations related to epidemiology and animal and plant quarantine (SPS) from members of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Accordingly, the Vietnam SPS Office and the Tentamus Innovation Center agreed to support and coordinate to effectively notify SPS-related contents to Vietnamese manufacturers and exporters; answer questions to support Vietnamese products to meet technical standards to be able to import into markets requiring high technical standards such as the EU, the US, the UK, etc.
Dr. Jochen Peter Zoller, General Director of Tentamus Group, and Director of SPS Vietnam Office Le Thanh Hoa signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The Vietnam SPS Office acts as a focal point to receive updated information on SPS measures of WTO member countries and share, discuss and analyze with Tentamus' contact point to update the SPS software system so that member companies can access the latest information.
The Vietnam SPS Office can also receive feedback from member companies in a systematic manner. This will help develop the brand of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market.
The Memorandum of Understanding provides a framework for cooperation for the period 2024 - 2029 and is effective from the date of signing until December 31, 2029.
In the immediate future, 7 key product groups of Vietnam exported to the EU will be prioritized by the Vietnam SPS Office and Tentamus, including: rice, pepper, cashew, passion fruit, honey, vegetables and seafood.
According to Mr. Le Thanh Hoa, Director of the Vietnam SPS Office, Vietnam is a major producer and exporter of agricultural products including pepper, rice, coffee, etc. Vietnam also has great potential to export vegetables, tubers, and fruits to markets around the world.
However, information related to food safety and phytosanitary measures as well as technical standards of importing countries are not effectively updated to manufacturers and exporters.
This cooperation will support effective alignment of strategies and activities related to food safety and animal and plant quarantine.
With the implementation of the software system on maximum residue limits (MRL) in the coming time, export enterprises will avoid the situation of unclear information, helping agricultural products to reach more "difficult" markets.
Dr. Jochen Peter Zoller, General Director of Tentamus Group, who signed the memorandum of understanding with the Vietnam SPS Office, said that Tentamus' goal is to help retail chains around the world find safe sources of goods in a number of potential markets, including Vietnam.
"With the implementation of the software system on maximum residue limits (MRL) in the coming time, exporting enterprises will avoid the situation of unclear information, helping agricultural products to reach more demanding markets," said Mr. Jochen Peter Zoller.
Tentamus is a global testing group with a major presence in the EU, UK, Israel, China, Japan, India and the US. Tentamus Group is accredited and licensed to test, evaluate and advise on all products related to human health.
