In the first quarter of 2025, the total revenue of the entire Vietnamese e-commerce market reached 101,400 billion VND, an increase of 42.29% over the same period.

According to the Overview Report "Online retail market in the first quarter of 2025 and forecast for the second quarter of 2025" by Metric.vn (data analysis platform) - analyzing data on 4 online retail platforms Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, TikTok Shop, in the first 3 months of 2025, the total revenue of the entire Vietnamese e-commerce market reached 101,400 billion VND, an increase of 42.29% over the same period in 2024.

Output of consumed goods reached 950.7 million products, up 24% over the same period.

However, the number of sellers generating orders recorded a significant decrease of 7.45%, to only 472,500 shops, equivalent to more than 38,000 shops leaving the game compared to the same period.

In contrast, the group of sellers with high sales recorded outstanding growth. In particular, the number of stalls with sales of over 50 billion VND nearly doubled compared to the first quarter of 2024.

" This reflects a clear differentiation in the market: while small retailers are gradually withdrawing, large retailers with well-organized operations are asserting their leading position, " Metric commented.

Notably, the e-commerce market in the first quarter of 2025 witnessed a strong shift to integrated entertainment and shopping platforms, with TikTok Shop recording strong sales growth of 113.8%, increasing its market share from 23% to 35%. While Shopee only grew by 29.3%, its market share decreased from 68% to 62%.

In contrast, Lazada and Tiki lost 43.5% and 66.6% of sales respectively compared to the same period last year.

According to Metric statistics, in the grocery - food industry on e-commerce platforms in the first quarter of 2025, Ensure still leads brand sales with 217 billion VND but recorded negative growth of 5.4%.

On the contrary, domestic brands such as TH True Milk - revenue of 63.1 billion VND (+57.3%), Vinamilk - revenue of 147.8 billion VND (+46%), and personal brand Hang Du Muc - revenue of 58.7 billion VND (+434.4%) have good growth rates.

Notably, on TikTok Shop, the stall named Hang Du Muc - HANGKAT grew by 312% compared to the same period last year, reaching 58.1 billion VND.

According to Metric's forecast, Vietnam's e-commerce market in the second quarter of 2025 could reach sales of VND116,600 billion and output of about 1,112 million products, with growth rates of 15% and 17% respectively compared to the first quarter of 2025.

This growth was driven by many positive factors, including the stimulus effect from major mid-year promotions such as the summer sale festival and mid-year sale as well as the continued stable trend of online consumption.

In addition, consumer behavior shows a clear shift towards purchasing essential goods and healthcare, along with an increase in spending on high-quality products with clear origins.

"In addition, e-commerce platforms are also stepping up investment in logistics, livestream sales, and seller support tools to help improve the shopping experience and boost order conversion, " Metric said.
