The meeting approved the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units in Thoai Son district and the report on approving the policy of rearranging Kien Giang province and An Giang province, and rearranging commune-level administrative units in Thoai Son district.

Specifically, An Giang and Kien Giang provinces will be merged into a new province and named An Giang province, with its headquarters located in Kien Giang province. Thoai Son district will be reorganized into 6 commune-level administrative units (reducing 11 commune-level administrative units), including: Thoai Son, Oc Eo, Thoai Son Trung, Thoai Son Dong, Thoai Son Nam, Thoai Son Tay.

Speaking at the closing session, Vice Chairman of Thoai Son District People's Council Quach Minh Dung requested: "The District People's Committee directs and implements to ensure consistency and unity in the process of implementing the arrangement of commune-level administrative units, ensuring that the activities of the government and people's lives are not disrupted. The Standing Committee of the People's Council, the People's Council Committees, the delegations, the district People's Council delegates, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district and member organizations strengthen supervision, propaganda, and closely coordinate with the District People's Committee and specialized agencies in the implementation process. Grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people to promptly reflect and make recommendations to competent authorities for consideration and resolution. At the same time, proactively review and carefully prepare plans to merge cadres, civil servants, facilities, public assets, grassroots political systems... to ensure the maintenance of security and order, care for the lives and interests of the people after the arrangement".
