In the social life of the market mechanism, there have been and are still many things that are offensive to the ears and eyes, causing anxiety to those with conscience and civic responsibility. Such as the story of a group of 13-14 year old female students "ganging up" on a female student who did not follow the "instructions" of the group leader; such as the story of a driver speeding and recklessly hitting a Honda driver, causing them to be thrown onto the sidewalk and fall down, but the driver still calmly drove straight, not caring about the life of the Honda driver.
There are many flights that are delayed by up to 20 minutes or have their gate numbers constantly changed, but passengers only receive a light "Sorry", without a clear explanation of the reason - and this happens like "daily bread" at many domestic airports! There are many other pressing issues in many places and fields, but the leaders of those units do not respond to the reason and how to handle it?!
Amidst all these contradictory stories, I was very happy when my friend came to visit me during the recent important holiday, and enthusiastically told me some “real people, real events” stories of his own family. The first story: His son was riding a Honda on the road when he accidentally encountered a rock larger than a brick rolling down, making him unable to avoid it. The bike and the person fell over, and the boy’s leg was scratched and bleeding. A car coming from the opposite direction stopped, the driver quickly took out a bandage from his car to provide first aid, then moved the Honda onto the sidewalk; then called the boy’s family to let them know.
Second story: He took his wife to Nam Tu Liem district hoping that the professional department would check the records to reissue his wife's birth certificate because during the house renovation process, many documents were lost. A woman named Ngoc very enthusiastically instructed him on how to fill out the application form correctly, clearly explained the situations that would occur and promised to give a specific answer tomorrow.
Story 3: On the way to my house, he stopped at a bicycle vendor on the sidewalk of Tran Quang Dieu street to buy a few kilos of oranges. After paying, he continued on his way, the vendor hurriedly ran after him and gave him back 250,000 VND, the amount he had overpaid. He thanked her, but when he asked her name, she just smiled and said nothing…
Listening to his three stories, I realized that I needed to adjust my perception: It turns out that in daily life, there are many unhappy things, but there are also many happy things because of humanity and righteousness. The problem is that each of us, with our civic responsibility and social obligations, should join hands with the Department of Culture and relevant agencies to promptly propagate, educate, and praise examples of "good people, good deeds" according to the motto "using beauty to eliminate ugliness", "using positivity to repel negativity" so that Goodness will flourish more and more, Evil will be condemned by society and gradually decrease...
Lao Cai Provincial Police delegation visited and presented gifts to a number of veterans who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024)
Suddenly I remembered that during the month of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, many social organizations, such as the Fatherland Front, Youth Union, Women's Union, Association of the Elderly, etc., and many businesses visited and gave gifts to veterans of the resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism.
The tradition of “remembering the source when drinking water” and “remembering the person who planted the tree when eating fruit” has been and is being expanded throughout the country. However, these noble deeds do not only take place during holidays and Tet, but in recent years, in the new rural construction movement in the North, Central and South, many families have voluntarily donated hundreds of square meters of land for localities to expand roads, or build schools, medical stations, etc. In some places where landslides have occurred and many houses have been submerged in water, many families are willing to welcome those unfortunate households to temporarily stay in their homes, etc. Perhaps, these are the beautiful features of Vietnamese cultural traditions, if they are spread and deeply absorbed into the thinking and life of each person, each community, each agency, unit, locality, etc., they will become a great endogenous strength in the current cause of building and firmly protecting our Fatherland!
