Hanoi :
TPO - Recently, a series of mahogany trees on Highway 70 (through Dai Mo Ward, Nam Tu Liem District) were cut down in half, surprising many people.
Route 70 (section through Dai Mo ward, Nam Tu Liem district) is being expanded. Therefore, a series of old soapberry trees on the street are being cut down. |
The project to build a road from To Huu Street to the extended Road 70 (from Van Phuc village, Ha Dong district to Thap residential group), Dai Mo ward, Nam Tu Liem district has a length of 2,067m, a road surface width of 30m, a median strip of 3m wide and a sidewalk on each side of 6m wide. |
It is known that the first phase of the project had already cut down dozens of mahogany trees on the opposite side. This phase will have 14 mahogany trees cut down to serve the project. Of these, 2 trees will be transferred, the remaining trees will be auctioned. |
According to the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District, all auctioned tree cutting was carried out by a private bidder. Tree cutting, felling, and moving all had approval from the Department of Construction. |
When completed, the project will contribute to perfecting the planning and connecting traffic infrastructure, helping to reduce congestion in the area. |
However, cutting down rows of decades-old rosewood trees that have been closely associated with people's lives makes them regretful. |
