According to Mr. Tuan - the owner of a stall on Hang Ma Street, in the past 1-2 years, customers have tended to favor traditional lanterns and toys.

“To please customers, this year the stores mainly import traditional handmade toys and decorations. They only import a little bit of foreign goods or modern items to keep up with the trend,” said Mr. Tuan.

In terms of price, the market recorded stability compared to the same period last year. Decorative lanterns are priced from 50,000 VND/piece to 500,000 VND/piece depending on the design and size. Hand-held lanterns are priced from 60,000 VND/piece.

Sharing the same opinion with Mr. Hao, Ms. Le Thu Lan (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) chose lion heads, star lanterns and handmade lanterns to decorate her house so that her children could enjoy Tet Reunion in the most traditional way.

“My children are now exposed to modern, convenient life, but I am sure that the old atmosphere is something they will never fully experience. I want to preserve a bit of that tradition, so I will recreate my house just like what I remember from my childhood about the Reunion Day,” Ms. Lan shared.
