This is one of the activities within the 2024 Summer Volunteer Campaign organized by the Da Nang City Youth Union from June 23 to June 26.
Accordingly, nearly 400 volunteers from the armed forces, youth union members, students... were equipped with life jackets, grass rakes, small boats, and ropes to wade into the lake to salvage water hyacinths to clear the drainage system here.
Many large patches of water fern were brought from the middle of the lake to the shore by the youth union members. Above, many young people helped pull the water fern up and gathered it at a fixed place for processing.
According to local people, Bau Tre Lake was formed a long time ago. Due to floods, water stagnated here, and a lot of water hyacinth grew. The lake area has an area of about 20,000m2 , the water is deep, surrounded by water hyacinth and other plants, blocking the flow into the fields and canals, causing flooding during the rainy season.
People want to treat duckweed to clear the flow for irrigation but do not have the means. Therefore, the activities of the city’s youth are widely supported by the people.
The Da Nang Youth Union said that due to the large amount of water fern, it is expected that the work of removing water fern and clearing the water will be completed by June 26. Through the activity, the city’s youth will join hands to clean up polluted areas, contributing to protecting the green, clean and beautiful landscape.
