On October 10, at the Digital Transformation Festival for Youth in Da Nang organized by the Da Nang Youth Union in coordination with the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications, the story of semiconductor microchips attracted young people.

Is semiconductor a trend?

Many young people wonder whether semiconductors are fertile ground for students and young people to cultivate in the current context. Are semiconductors and artificial intelligence just a trend, a trend that blooms and fades quickly?

Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, director of the Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence in Da Nang, said that doubts are possible because 10 years ago we also had a similar "trend" but it was not successful.

Mr. Phuc told the story of Da Nang 24 years ago, the economy was still underdeveloped but the city has trained and attracted high-quality human resources since then. To date, Da Nang has more than 2,600 information technology enterprises.

"Da Nang has become a city with a developed information technology industry like today, so it is completely possible to hope that 24 years later, Da Nang will have opportunities in semiconductors and artificial intelligence," said Mr. Phuc.

According to Mr. Phuc, this confidence is well-founded as Da Nang has three factors: systematic training, linking with businesses and learning from countries around the world; investing in infrastructure and having special policies to attract long-term microchip human resources.

In addition, speakers representing businesses and universities also said that the demand for microchip human resources in Vietnam and cooperating countries is very large. On the other hand, digital transformation requires cross-sectoral coordination. Therefore, other fields also need human resources related to artificial intelligence.

Bringing together young people and technology businesses

At the digital transformation festival, there were dozens of booths displaying digital transformation products, integrating and applying technologies in the field of digital transformation, semiconductor microchips of universities, businesses, Youth Union chapters and youth union members.

The festival also organizes artificial intelligence design competitions with creative ideas, models, topics or products in digital transformation, applying information technology and artificial intelligence to serve work, study and daily life.

Activities such as job fairs and study tours in semiconductor and artificial intelligence at specialized universities; online quizzes to learn about digital transformation knowledge... also attracted hundreds of young people with a passion for technology to participate.
