Hundreds of people wearing Ao Dai take communion in Hanoi's Old Quarter

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of January 28, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter coordinated with units and individuals to organize a cultural activity program Celebrating the Party - Celebrating Spring with the theme Vietnamese Tet - Street Tet 2024.
At around 8:30 a.m., the procession with hundreds of people wearing traditional ao dai departed from the Heritage House (87 Ma May, Hoan Kiem District) passing through the ancient streets as well as the capital's heritage to Kim Ngan communal house at 42 Hang Bac. This is an activity to raise awareness about preserving and promoting the values of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, contributing to promoting the development of trade, services, tourism and promoting the image of Hoan Kiem Lake area, the Old Quarter in particular and Hanoi Capital in general. The procession of hundreds of people passed through the streets for nearly 3 hours.
The bustling, joyful atmosphere of the festival filled the streets every time the procession passed by. Tran Ha An (born in 2009) holding a fresh peach blossom branch in her hand joined the procession and said: "I have loved traditional culture for a long time, especially the Vietnamese ao dai, so being present and wearing the traditional dress in the procession today makes me feel very honored." The procession stopped in front of O Quan Chuong area, a relic bearing the mark of the ancient Thang Long citadel. People in the old quarter eagerly watched the procession through the old streets. The procession passing through Ta Hien Street, which was already busy and crowded, became even more bustling and filled with a festive atmosphere. The procession passed through Dao Duy Tu Street - O Quan Chuong Street - Hang Chieu Street - Hang Giay Street - Bach Ma Temple - Hang Buom Street - Ta Hien Street - Golden Bell Theater and stopped at Kim Ngan Temple (Hang Bac Street). At Kim Ngan communal house, there are activities such as offering to Thanh Hoang, erecting the Tet pole and folk performances to celebrate the New Year. In the photo is the activity of writing calligraphy on a long red cloth with 5 words "Giap Thin nien thinh vuong", this cloth will be hung so that the pole is placed in front of Kim Ngan communal house. The flagpole was erected in the Kim Ngan communal house yard in the presence of many guests and people. Performance activities such as "Con dy danh bong" dance of Trieu Khuc village, then singing... were held immediately afterwards to serve the locals and visitors.
