Attending the Vu Lan Dharma Assembly were representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Ninh Binh province, along with thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, people and tourists from all over.
Vu Lan festival is held for descendants to remember the birth and upbringing of their parents and ancestors; future generations remember the heavy meaning of meritorious predecessors who sacrificed for the peace of all living beings and species, also a tradition of gratitude and repayment of gratitude of the nation with the eternal morality of "drinking water, remember its source".
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Most Venerable Thich Minh Quang, Member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, and Witness of the Executive Council of the Ninh Binh Provincial Buddhist Sangha, shared information so that Buddhists and visitors from all over the world can better understand the origin and meaning of the Vu Lan ceremony.
Vu Lan Festival is a day to commemorate the merits of parents and ancestors and is considered by Buddhism as an important holiday in the 7th lunar month every year. This is an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the tradition of filial piety and gratitude to ancestors, grandparents, parents; becoming an indispensable part of Vietnamese culture and beliefs.
Attending this year's Vu Lan Dharma Festival, in addition to respectfully expressing gratitude to the parents for their birth and gratitude to previous generations who have contributed to building the country, delegates, monks, Buddhists, and visitors from all over the world also performed traditional Buddhist rituals such as: praying for Buddha's blessings, the rose pinning ceremony, and the Vu Lan repentance ceremony...
