This morning (October 9), Mr. Le Manh Hien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Chau district (Nghe An), said that after Viet Glory Company Limited adjusted meal allowances, fuel allowances and increased production bonuses higher than the old level, thousands of workers returned to work.
"This morning, thousands of workers entered the factory to work. There was no longer a crowd gathering in front of the company gate like the past few days. Everyone drove inside to work in an orderly and serious manner," said Mr. Hien.
Previously, on October 7, Viet Glory Company Limited issued two notices on adjusting meal allowances, gasoline allowances and increasing production bonuses higher than the old level for the entire factory.
Specifically, the gasoline subsidy increased from 260,000 VND to 390,000 VND; food allowance increased from 520,000 VND to 624,000 VND; at the same time, production allowance increased according to levels: No. 1 increased from 20,000 to 50,000 VND; No. 2 increased from 25,000 to 55,000 VND; No. 3 increased from 30,000 to 60,000 VND.
If you reach 4 levels in a month, the production bonus will increase from 80,000 to 200,000 VND, if you reach 5 levels, it will increase from 100,000 to 300,000 VND.
However, as of the afternoon of October 7, only 1,573 workers out of a total of nearly 7,000 people had started working. Therefore, Viet Glory Company Limited has issued a notice of unilateral termination of labor contracts to the company's officers and employees according to regulations.
“For employees who voluntarily quit their jobs without a valid reason for 5 consecutive working days or more, from 1:00 p.m. on October 2 to 5:00 p.m. on October 7, the company will comply with the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code on the employer's right to unilaterally terminate the labor contract.
However, at the request of Nghe An province and Dien Chau district, along with agencies at all levels, the company has postponed the implementation until the morning of October 9. If any worker does not return to work by the morning of October 9, he/she will be handled according to the provisions of the law" - the company's document clearly stated.
Nearly 6,000 workers of Viet Glory Company Limited stopped working, asking the management to answer some issues such as increasing basic salary, reviewing the attitude of company staff, adjusting meeting time, and setting output too high...
On October 2 and 4, Viet Glory Company Limited also announced its response to 11 proposals from workers.
According to the Nghe An Labor Federation, the company has committed to adjusting and amending 3/8 of the workers' requests. At the same time, the company's leaders and the Dien Chau District Labor Federation have directly mobilized and called on workers to come to work.
Viet Glory footwear manufacturing and processing factory located in Dien Truong commune, Dien Chau district was established in 2019, with an expected capacity of 25 million products/year, 100% foreign investment capital.
