Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son is on an official visit to South Korea at the invitation of Foreign Minister Cho Tae Yul.

This morning, Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the launching ceremony of the Vietnam Business Association in Korea.

The Vietnam Business Association in Korea has been officially recognized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese since October 21, 2023. The Association initially has more than 40 member enterprises, operating in diverse industries and fields.

Up to now, overseas Vietnamese enterprises in Korea have had 29 projects out of 421 FDI investment projects of overseas Vietnamese from 32 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.

The Minister congratulated and commented that the establishment of the Association is an important milestone marking the maturity of the Vietnamese business community in Korea.

Vietnam-Korea relations are at their best stage of development. Since 2022, the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic partnership. Korea continues to rank first in terms of investment (FDI), second in terms of development cooperation (ODA), and third in terms of labor and trade cooperation.

The Minister said that the Party and State always care, share, listen and will always have special policies and mechanisms to support overseas businessmen.

On behalf of the Association, Chairman Dao Tuan Hung hopes that in the coming time, the Association will continue to receive support from domestic authorities, so that the Association can promote its role as a bridge between businesses of the two countries.

Working with the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Chang Won Sam, Minister Bui Thanh Son assessed that the capital provided by KOICA, especially the non-refundable aid from the Korean Government through KOICA, has actively contributed to the development of infrastructure serving people's lives such as hospitals, schools, and vocational schools.

Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that KOICA continue to expand ODA provision to Vietnam in new areas that Vietnam prioritizes for development, such as semiconductor engineering training, innovation, green economy, circular economy, high-tech agriculture, and humanitarian assistance.

KOICA Chairman Chang Won Sam emphasized that the Korean Government and KOICA always consider Vietnam a strategic partner in ODA cooperation, thereby deciding to provide Vietnam with non-refundable aid of 200 million USD in the 2024-2027 period to contribute to economic and social development, focusing on the environment, climate change response, healthcare, education, and digital transformation.

In the immediate future, 52 million USD will be provided in 2024 to focus on developing public administration, health, education and expanding to respond to climate change and digital transformation.

This afternoon, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son received representatives of the Vietnamese Ly family in Korea.

Minister Bui Thanh Son said that the Vietnamese State and people are very excited and proud to see the Ly family members settling down, working together, succeeding and increasingly making important contributions to the development of Korea.

The journey of more than 30 years of Vietnam - Korea relations is not long, but the two countries have achieved many achievements, including the contributions and companionship of the Ly family.

The Vietnamese Party and State always consider the Ly family members as well as overseas Vietnamese in Korea as an inseparable part of the nation and always pay much attention and support.

The Minister agreed that the activities towards Vietnam organized by the Ly family are important and practical, serving as a connecting link between Vietnam and Korea.

Representatives of the Vietnamese Ly family in Korea are proud of their positive contributions to the development of Korea, and increasingly have a worthy position in Korean society...

Also today, Minister Bui Thanh Son received Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Economic and Cultural Exchange Association Kwon Sung Taek, Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Association Lee Shin Jae, and held a discussion with a group of young Vietnamese intellectuals and scientists in Korea.
