On the afternoon of December 5, in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, the Vietnam People's Navy Region 5 Command coordinated with the Ream Sea Base, Royal Cambodian Navy to organize the 34th Conference on Experience Sharing on the 75th and 76th Joint Patrols between the two navies. Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung, Commander of the Navy Region 5 Command, and Vice Admiral May Dina, Commander of the Ream Sea Base co-chaired the Conference.

At the conference, the two sides emphasized: The 75th and 76th joint patrols were carried out in June and September 2024 in the historical waters of Vietnam - Cambodia. The navies of the two countries strictly followed the Regulations on joint patrol coordination and established a communication channel between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Royal Cambodian Navy signed by the Commanders of the two navies on September 14, 2002.
Notably, the two sides have effectively coordinated in patrolling, controlling, and maintaining security and order in the historical waters; well implemented the training content of fleet formation and search and rescue; proficiently used the Code of Conduct for Unexpected Encounters at Sea of the navies of the Western Pacific countries (CUES) and hand flags, signal flags, and lights according to the International Signal Law.

During the patrol, the naval ships of the two countries always maintain communication with the joint patrol standing office of each country; regularly exchange information, the situation of the sea and related issues; organize strict observation and control, ensuring that the means of transport operate safely and in accordance with the prescribed mechanism in the historical waters. Thereby, contributing to maintaining security and order, creating favorable conditions for the people of the two countries to develop the marine economy.

In the coming time, the two sides will continue to promote propaganda and mobilize fishermen of the two countries to strictly comply with laws and regulations on marine exploitation; proactively coordinate with the forces and competent agencies of the two countries to prevent and combat transnational terrorist acts, illegal trafficking and transportation of goods, weapons, explosives, drugs, human trafficking, tax evasion and illegal entry and exit.

The two sides agreed to continue to effectively maintain communication channels, especially hotlines, and promptly coordinate to harmoniously and satisfactorily handle incidents at sea in the spirit of cooperation, respect for international law, independence and sovereignty, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, further deepening the solidarity, friendship, understanding and mutual trust between the two navies.
