2050 - Global maritime city will "call" Hai Phong
According to the report presented at the Conference on Appraisal of Hai Phong City Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the Plan has set the goal of developing the city by 2030 to become a large seaport city, the intersection of one of the most vibrant economic triangles: Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, playing the role of a driving force for the development of the Northern region and the whole country.

From a macro perspective, many experts also believe that Hai Phong is a locality with a particularly important position in the country, converging all 5 types of transportation such as: road, rail, sea, air and inland waterway; along with natural conditions, people, cultural history... to develop rapidly in the planning period.
By 2050, Hai Phong aims to become a global maritime city with a high level of development and a good living environment, on par with the leading port cities in Asia and the world. Hai Phong will develop with 3 main development pillars, including: seaport services; green, smart, modern industry and especially developing an international sea tourism center.
Promoting economic development in the southern coastal region
One of Hai Phong’s first “steps” to realize the 2050 vision is to plan and build Nam Do Son Port associated with the establishment of the South Hai Phong Coastal Economic Zone; connecting the coastal highway, Tien Lang airport; expanding the space for marine economic development.
This development goal plays an important role in the economic restructuring process of Hai Phong in particular and Vietnam in general; helping to expand the regional connectivity network, promote regional advantages, promote strong trade, and create a common economic development for the whole region.

The city will build Lach Huyen gateway port and Nam Do Son port into an international gateway port cluster with container transit functions; promote the application of digital technology in the field of seaport services and logistics; and expand the space for developing coastal economic zones in the city.
This is the lever to gradually build Hai Phong seaport into an international transit gateway - the busiest trading place in Vietnam, contributing to reducing logistics costs, improving the competitiveness of products and businesses and meeting the development needs of the country.
Realizing the goal of becoming an international sea tourism center
Regarding tourism development, Hai Phong has determined to build a highly attractive coastal tourism complex, making tourism truly one of the city's key economic sectors. At the same time, linking with the provinces in the Red River Delta, especially Quang Ninh and the Northeastern coastal provinces, to become a tourism center connecting with the region and the world.
According to Decision No. 323/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, Hai Phong's tourism network planning by 2030 is capable of serving 30 - 35 million visitors, and by 2040 about 35 - 40 million visitors.
Mr. Vu Huy Thuong, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Department of Tourism, said that sea tourism is the strength of Hai Phong with two famous tourist destinations, including Do Son District.
According to the draft planning documents of Hai Phong City for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, Do Son is expected to be built and developed into a modern and smart coastal tourism city; complete the criteria of a type I urban area before 2025 and gradually build the criteria of a special urban area, expanding the urban space to the West.
In order to gradually realize that goal, Do Son has been inviting large investors to invest, contributing to significantly changing its appearance. Among them, we must mention the Dragon Hill International Tourist Area Project invested by Van Huong Investment and Tourism Joint Stock Company.
Dragon Ocean Do Son is considered a key project not only of the city but also of the North, bringing a Super complex of resort, sports and entertainment entirely on the sea with the full integration of 5 types of tourism in one destination.
After more than 1 year of launching and officially operating since 2022, the project owns a collection of impressive numbers such as welcoming about 2 million visitors with Do Son, meeting place of more than 30 large-scale cultural, artistic and community events, typically the record-breaking car-stacking event in the shape of a map of Vietnam, gathering 1,700 cars across the country.
Dragon Hill International Tourist Area is continuously "heating up" the market when it officially puts into operation a series of key facilities in 2023.
In 2023, the project will also launch a series of new amenities such as: Dragon Beach, 5-star hotel, Golf course on the sea, Spiritual tourism area, Sea square, Con So restaurant, Beach Bar, Camping ...; continue to create a "push" for the outstanding development of Do Son tourism in 2023.
According to statistics from the Do Son District Cultural Office, the District welcomed nearly 300,000 visitors during the long summer holiday in 2023 - nearly 3 times higher than the same period in 2022; at the same time, Dragon Hill International Tourist Area also continuously welcomed more than 10,000 visitors every weekend during the peak summer season. This shows that Dragon Hill in particular and Do Son District in general are gradually developing to "break" the target of attracting 2.5 million tourists in 2023.
In addition, Dragon Hill International Tourist Area is continuing to expand investment, deploy construction, and complete to continue to "launch" new projects in the next phase such as: Legend Park Water Park, Cat Long Beach, Dragon Beach 2 Sea Square, Marina, ...
With the successive putting into operation of a series of key facilities, Dragon Hill International Tourist Area is expected to help change the face of Do Son tourism, contributing to the realization of the goal of turning Hai Phong into an international sea tourism center.
