Information said that some outstanding contents in the cooperation program have been implemented, notably the project on Training leaders and managers of Ho Chi Minh City and Training and fostering knowledge, leadership capacity, advanced management, foreign languages for officials, civil servants and public employees of Ho Chi Minh City has been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and implemented in 2023 and 2024.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of VNU-HCM, assessed that this is the most successful program that VNU-HCM has coordinated with the HCM City People's Committee. Regarding training, in the past 2 years, VNU-HCM has trained 4,000 civil servants for the city. This shows that the HCM City Party Committee and People's Committee have a strategic vision for human resources. Currently, technology corporations all assess that HCM City has the most advantages (human resource training, scientific research) to attract them to invest. Therefore, the cooperation program also needs to focus on key issues, not spread out.
At the conference, delegates also agreed on the key tasks for 2024 and 2025, which is to continue implementing and completing projects and tasks that have been implemented in the past 2 years. In particular, regarding the overall project of training international-level human resources for the period 2020 - 2035, the university shared the need to quickly implement training orders, policies on scholarships, tuition fees for students, etc.
In July 2022, VNU-HCM and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City signed a cooperation program in four main areas: Training, fostering, and developing human resources; scientific research and socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City; digital transformation, digital economic development, startups, innovation; infrastructure development of VNU-HCM urban area.
Accordingly, VNU-HCM will train high-quality, internationally-qualified human resources for Ho Chi Minh City, serving the digital transformation roadmap. These human resources are in the fields of information technology - communications, AI, urban management, mechanics - automation, business administration, finance - banking, healthcare, and tourism.
In the field of scientific research and socio-economic development of the city, VNU-HCM will participate in consulting, coordinating research on strategies, policies, proposing models, mechanisms and solutions. The focused areas include socio-economics, science and technology, culture and sports. The HCM City People's Committee will support and coordinate with VNU-HCM in community service work, linking cooperation between VNU-HCM - enterprises - localities.
