On the afternoon of June 21, speaking with VietNamNet reporters, a representative of the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation said that on the afternoon of June 19, the unit received a preliminary report from the Southern Air Traffic Management Company on the incident related to flights HVN 1575, HVN 1557 and VJC 244 at Division 1 (Ho Chi Minh Long-range Control Center), with a short-term conflict alert (STCA).
“After the system sent out a warning signal, air traffic controllers issued instructions to adjust the trajectories of related flights; at the same time, the crews also performed an avoidance maneuver, ensuring flight safety.
As soon as the incident occurred, the on-duty crew reported it, and the Southern Air Traffic Management Company temporarily suspended the relevant Air Traffic Controllers and proceeded to verify the incident, as well as report to the competent authority according to regulations," said a representative of the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation.
On the side of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, the representative of the unit said that upon receiving the information, they immediately decided to establish an investigation team to verify the cause of the incident. The investigation team is currently performing its duties at the Southern Air Traffic Management Company and will inform when the results are available.
Previously, at around 6:30 a.m. on June 19, the Air Traffic Controller gave clearance to aircraft HVN1575 on its journey from Hanoi to Da Lat to descend to flight level 300 and then to flight level 340, the aircraft confirmed.
At the same time, at around 6:31 a.m., flight VJC244 from Ho Chi Minh City to Thanh Hoa established contact with Division 1, reporting that it was flying straight, maintaining flight level 330. The air traffic controller identified the plane and requested to maintain flight level 330, the plane confirmed.
At 6:34, the Air Traffic Controller gave HVN1575 clearance to continue descending to flight level 240, the aircraft confirmed a second time.
However, at nearly 6:35 a.m., the ATM screen displayed a STCA (short-term conflict warning) warning. Immediately, the Air Traffic Controller hurriedly issued instructions for HVN1575 to maintain flight level 340 and turn left due to traffic reasons (aircraft collision warning - PV).
The air traffic controller gave VJC244 a clearance to turn right. Fortunately, at around 6:35, HVN1575 confirmed that it had received the clearance to descend to flight level 240. At 6:36, the ATM screen no longer had the STCA warning.
