Man City wins first ticket to Champions League round of 16
Man City became the first team to book a ticket to the Champions League round of 16 with two matches to spare after a 3-0 home win over Young Boys in the fourth match of the group stage.
The victory of the Etihad team was not surprising because the defending champions are of a level far above the team from Switzerland. In the first leg two weeks ago, Man City easily won 3-1.

At the Etihad Stadium, Man City dominated the game, having 70% possession and 27 shots. Young Boys had to defend deep, the visitors could not break through and their counter-attacks were often blocked far from Man City's goal, so Young Boys did not have a single shot.
Haaland erased his worries about a serious injury when he returned to the starting lineup. The Norwegian striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute. In the 45+1 minute, Foden helped the home team score a second goal and leisurely entered the break.

The outcome of the match was decided in the 51st minute, Haaland scored his second goal and increased the score to 3-0. The away team was reduced to 10 men from the 53rd minute when Lauper received a second yellow card and was sent off.
However, the 3-goal gap was safe enough for Man City to take all three points and the home team did not play aggressively in the remaining minutes, so Young Boys did not concede any more goals.
With all 4 wins, Man City is firmly at the top of the table with 12 points and has secured a ticket to the next round two matches early. However, Man City is not allowed to give up the next match because RB Leipzig also won Crvena zvezda 2-1 in the same match and advanced with the second position in the group.
