Binh Dinh attacked weakly with only one pass to striker Rafaelson, but this foreign player missed because his shot was either inaccurate or too soft, and was blocked by goalkeeper Quang Tuan. Rafaelson's supporting satellites, Ha Duc Chinh and Nghiem Xuan Tu, were both lost in the fierce pursuit of the home team's defenders.

In the second half, Binh Dinh quickly pushed up their formation, looking for an equalizer. In the 46th minute, Rafelson fired a long-range shot that went wide of Ha Tinh's right post. The turning point of the match came in the 71st minute, when Ha Tinh's Van Long passed the ball from midfield for Diallo to break the offside trap. However, this foreign player was pulled down by Binh Dinh's center-back Almeida using a trick. Referee Vu Nguyen Vu immediately showed Almeida a second yellow card, sending him off.

Ha Tinh immediately attacked thanks to their advantage of having more players, and they were soon rewarded. In the 74th minute, defender Bui Van Duc - a new player on the Vietnamese team, escaped down the right wing and passed the ball inside. From about 7 meters, Diallo shot a powerful cross-angle shot to increase the score to 2-0. Van Lam stretched out as far as he could but still could not block it.
