Hanoi City Police have handled 575 party members, civil servants, and public employees who violated alcohol concentration in 2023, according to Deputy Director of the City Police Nguyen Hong Ky.
On the afternoon of January 19, at a regular press conference of the Hanoi People's Committee, Major General Nguyen Hong Ky said that alcohol concentration violations are one of the behaviors that have been focused on being handled recently. In 2023 alone, the city police handled more than 73,000 cases with fines totaling more than VND350 billion.
"In the process of performing their duties, the police handle cases without any forbidden areas or exceptions, especially with civil servants, public employees, and party members to set an example," said Mr. Ky.

According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department, in 2023, the police nationwide handled more than 3.4 million cases of traffic safety violations, fined more than 6,500 billion VND, revoked more than 664,000 driving licenses, and detained more than one million vehicles. Of which, the number of alcohol violations was a record high, more than 770,000 cases, an increase of more than 460,000 compared to 2022, with motorcyclists accounting for the majority of violations.
From January 10 to March 9, 2024, traffic police nationwide will increase patrols and handle traffic violations on roads, railways and waterways. On roads, police will patrol and handle violations of alcohol concentration, expanding the body of the vehicle, overloading, carrying too many passengers, and speeding.
