The contest also aims to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Party Committee of Hanoi City Agencies (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture (now the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, November 30, 1954 - November 30, 2024).
Promoting synchronous mechanization in rice production
According to the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the contest "Excellent rice transplanter operators in the 2024 winter-spring crop" will be held from June 25 to 26, 2024, in Nam Phong commune, Phu Xuyen district. Accordingly, there will be 10 teams competing in the contest, including: 8 teams representing Phu Xuyen district, 1 team representing Thuong Tin district and 1 team representing Ung Hoa district.
Each team will have 5 members and 1 6-row transplanter, going through 2 rounds. The first round is the self-introduction of the team in the hall: The team introduces information about the team, such as address, team name, team members; purpose, meaning and slogan showing the team's determination when participating in the competition.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai - Director of Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized: "Introducing mechanization to the fields is an inevitable trend to help accelerate the industrialization and modernization process, creating a breakthrough in agricultural production in general and in the fields in particular. The contest will be an opportunity for localities, especially tray plating and machine transplanting service establishments, to exchange, learn from experiences, acquire new scientific and technical advances, and at the same time contribute to the successful implementation of the policy of restructuring the agricultural sector towards increasing added value, stable and sustainable development".
The second part is the practical competition for transplanting rice in the field. Teams will compete in transplanting rice using a 6-row transplanter on an area of 1,800m2 (equivalent to 5 Northern sao) arranged by the Organizing Committee and numbered from 1 to 10. The participating teams will draw lots for positions to compete in the field.
In addition to the two competitions, the Organizing Committee also organized an exhibition of machines serving mechanization in rice production, demonstrations of unmanned sprayers, unmanned seeders, unmanned transplanters, etc.
Regarding the significance of this contest, a representative of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the contest aims to promote the application of mechanization in rice cultivation, contributing to the effective implementation of Plan No. 74/KH-UBND dated March 4, 2022 of the Hanoi People's Committee on Developing mechanization in agricultural production for the period 2022-2025. Continue to promote mechanization in production, striving that by 2025, concentrated agricultural commodity production areas will be basically mechanized and synchronously mechanized.
The contest also aims to encourage farmers and cooperatives to actively apply mechanization in agricultural production, especially synchronous mechanization in rice production, thereby helping to increase productivity, reduce input costs, save seeds and pesticides, reduce post-harvest losses and ensure seasonality for producers.
Propagating and improving farmers' knowledge about agricultural development policies and guidelines; improving capacity in organizing production and developing agricultural services for cooperatives, organizations and individuals in need. The contest is also an opportunity for farmers to exchange and learn new experiences and technical advances, contributing to improving productivity, quality and sustainable agricultural development.
To prepare for the contest to take place smoothly and ensure quality, since the beginning of June, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has established a survey team of 5 people to conduct the contest; established a contest organizing committee of 10 people, including leaders of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; leaders of the People's Committees of districts participating in the contest; leaders of departments, offices, Hanoi Agricultural Extension Center...
Next, the Department also established an Appraisal Council, Jury, and Secretariat of the contest, with members including representatives from the National Agricultural Extension Center, lecturers from the Institute for Development of Electromechanical Technology (Vietnam Academy of Agriculture), the Center for Appraisal of Machinery and Equipment (Institute of Agricultural Electromechanics); representatives of leaders and staff of the Department of Agricultural Techniques and Policy, Hanoi Agricultural Extension Center, etc.
The teams participating in the competition are organized to practice for 5 days, with the guidance of the Organizing Committee staff. In particular, the teams are supported with money for food, fuel and plating trays to serve the practice work.
Help farmers access new scientific and technological advances
The competition is expected to attract about 250 delegates. The prize structure includes 1 special prize; 1 first prize; 2 second prizes; 3 third prizes and 3 consolation prizes. Participating teams will be awarded the prize flag and the competition's souvenir flag.
At the recent conference to disseminate the regulations and scoring criteria of the contest and some other contents, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai - Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that the organization of the contest must ensure the prescribed criteria, the content is suitable and practical for the participants. The Organizing Committee issued the regulations and scoring criteria of the contest to ensure technical aspects and suitability with local realities. In particular, the Jury must score fairly and objectively according to the scoring criteria issued by the Organizing Committee.
The Organizing Committee notes that the participating teams must prepare a 6-row rice transplanter that operates well and avoids accidents during the competition. Team members must wear protective clothing provided by the Organizing Committee. The organization must ensure safety and strictly comply with regulations on fire prevention, security and order, environmental sanitation and legal regulations.
With 2 introduction and performance sections, the contest is expected to attract about 250 delegates. Regarding the prize structure, there will be 1 special prize; 1 first prize; 2 second prizes; 3 third prizes and 3 consolation prizes. Participating teams will be awarded with the prize flag and the contest's souvenir flag.
Assessing the impact of the contest, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that, in terms of science, the contest helps farmers access new science and technology and gradually change production methods towards synchronous mechanization; removing difficulties in labor shortages for agricultural production in rural areas.
Socially, the contest will contribute to the formation of tray-planting centers, service teams, tray-planting production chains, machine-planting and product consumption, thereby encouraging the expansion of machine-planted rice areas and gradually forming agricultural commodity production areas. Improving the management capacity and production organization of service teams is the basis for the formation of new-style cooperatives and agricultural enterprises.
Regarding environmental impact, by using a transplanter, rice plants are planted at a low density, taking advantage of light, so they will grow quickly, produce strong tillers, have few pests and weeds, thereby limiting the amount of pesticides used in the fields, contributing significantly to environmental protection, towards safe and sustainable agriculture.
