Hanoi continues to facilitate cooperation activities with Korea

On September 27, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh received Korean Ambassador Choi Young Sam on the occasion of his new term in Vietnam.

Ambassador Choi Young Sam expressed his joy at the warm welcome of the Chairman of the City People's Committee, and expressed his deep sympathy with Hanoi City for the damage caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi).

Appreciating the efforts of the city government and people in quickly overcoming the consequences of the storm, Ambassador Choi Young Sam affirmed that the Korean Embassy is ready to coordinate with Hanoi in joint efforts to overcome the consequences of the storm.

Expressing his delight at the vibrant cooperation between Vietnam and Korea in many fields, especially in economics, people-to-people exchange, cultural exchange, etc., Ambassador Choi Young Sam hoped that the upcoming visit of the Hanoi People's Committee delegation to Korea would achieve many important achievements.

The Ambassador also said that he had discussed with local authorities in Korea, including the capital Seoul, to ensure the best conditions for the visit.

Referring to the results of the recent phone call between General Secretary and President To Lam and President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol, Ambassador Choi Young Sam also expressed his hope that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop strongly, and expand to many new areas besides production cooperation, such as cooperation in infrastructure, cultural industry, etc.

On that basis, the Ambassador hopes that the Hanoi People's Committee will create favorable conditions and support upcoming cooperation projects. Accordingly, in the coming time, the Korean side will continue to organize many cultural exchange events, aiming to further strengthen relations with the capital city of Hanoi and the Vietnamese people.

Thanking Korea for sharing with Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular about the consequences of storm No. 3, the Chairman of the City People's Committee said that, based on the traditional good relationship between Vietnam and Korea, Hanoi has witnessed important contributions from the Korean community in the area for many years.

In 2024, the city attracted about 120.89 million USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) from Korea, including 54 newly licensed projects with a total registered capital of 56.14 million USD; 50 projects increased capital with an additional registered capital of about 40.58 million USD; 57 capital contributions and share purchases with a capital contribution value of about 24.15 million USD.

Appreciating the positive contributions of the Korean Embassy in Vietnam to the achievements of development cooperation between Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular with Korea in recent times, the Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that Hanoi will continue to pay attention to supporting and always accompany the Korean Embassy in activities in the area.

Agreeing with the Ambassador's opinions on the upcoming visit, the Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that the working trip needs to achieve many practical results, contributing positively to the relationship between Hanoi and Korean localities, as well as the relationship between the two countries.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed issues of mutual concern, including supporting the Korean community in the city; creating conditions for Korean teachers to teach in Vietnam; as well as a number of issues related to Korean investment and trade projects in the city...
