(Dan Tri) - Based on the decisions and proposals of the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the City People's Committee has just decided to reorganize Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School into specialized high schools.
The decision was signed on January 15, accordingly, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School will be reorganized into specialized high schools, under the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
These are two public educational institutions in the national education system and in the general school system of Hanoi city; have legal status, use their own seals and open accounts at the State Treasury and commercial banks according to the provisions of law.
Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School for the Gifted are organized and operate in compliance with current regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training for specialized high schools as prescribed.

The school is under the direct and comprehensive direction and management of the Department of Education and Training and other relevant agencies of Hanoi city.
The two schools enjoy the regimes and policies of specialized high schools according to the provisions of Circular No. 05/2023/QD-BGDDT dated February 28, 2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training on promulgating the Regulations on organization and operation of specialized high schools and according to current regulations.
The career establishment of the two schools is determined according to the provisions of Circular No. 20/2023/TT-BGDDT dated October 30, 2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training guiding on job positions, staff structure according to professional titles and the number of employees working in general education institutions and public specialized schools, within the total career establishment of the Department of Education and Training allocated annually.
Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School for the Gifted must arrange and use civil servants and contract workers in accordance with the provisions of Circular No. 20/2023/TTBGDDT dated October 30, 2023 of the Ministry of Education and Training and other relevant regulations.

Thus, Hanoi city currently has 4 specialized high schools, including: Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the construction of Chu Van An and Son Tay schools into specialized high schools aims to improve the quality of training and fostering talented students for the capital; at the same time, implementing Circular No. 05/2023/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training on the regulations of specialized high schools, including the regulation "not to organize non-specialized classes in specialized schools".
Previously, Chu Van An High School and Son Tay High School were two public schools with specialized classes. In the 2024-2025 school year, in addition to enrollment quotas for specialized classes, these two schools will still enroll students in non-specialized classes.
The total enrollment target for grade 10 of 4 high schools with specialized classes in Hanoi city (including Hanoi - Amsterdam, Nguyen Hue, Chu Van An and Son Tay) in the 2024-2025 school year is 2,970 students.
