On the afternoon of October 21, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen chaired a conference to review the economic sector's work in the first 9 months of 2024, tasks for the last 3 months of 2024, orientations for tasks in 2025 and the period 2026-2030.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen said that the income of the capital's people is still far behind that of many countries in the region. This raises the issue of economic development, because if it does not reach the world average, the city cannot talk about going far.
“If we do not focus on production and create social wealth, we will not be able to create a foundation, motivation, or strength for the development of the capital. Therefore, promoting economic development is an urgent requirement…” - Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized.
From now until 2030 and 2045, the city must focus on promoting production, attracting investment; accelerating the filling of industrial parks, high-tech parks, biotechnology parks, industrial clusters, craft village industrial clusters, etc.
“Regarding the task of developing urban transport, the city is promoting green transformation, converting all buses to electric buses before 2035. Building bus brands that meet green and clean criteria, serving people and tourists,” said Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen.

In the field of trade and services, Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized that the city is currently prioritizing support for domestic investors to develop trade and services. At the same time, Mr. Quyen suggested that the Department of Industry and Trade actively coordinate with departments and localities to soon implement two international wholesale market projects in Gia Lam district and a regional shopping center on the Nhat Tan - Noi Bai route. These are important conditions to promote tourism and trade.
Regarding the agricultural sector, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen requested to focus on building new rural areas and developing the capital's agriculture. Continue to restructure production in the field of cultivation with the goal of improving land use efficiency, focusing on rice development towards increasing the structure of quality rice varieties; expanding the area of vegetable cultivation, increasing the area of flowers and ornamental plants associated with the capital's brand, combined with tourism. At the same time, develop multi-sector, multi-objective agriculture and bring the highest value.

Reporting at the conference, Deputy Chief of Office of the City People's Committee Dinh Quoc Hung said that in the first 9 months of 2024, Hanoi's GRDP increased by 6.12%, higher than the same period in 2023 (5.99%). Apart from services and agriculture, forestry and fishery, which increased lower than the same period, the remaining sectors all increased higher than the same period.
Providing more information about the results in some areas, Mr. Dinh Quoc Hung said that Hanoi continues to develop various types of trade, promote the development of cultural industries; actively promote digital transformation and apply high technology in tourism development associated with preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage.
By October 2024, the city had started construction on 28/43 industrial clusters (8 more in the past 9 months of 2024). Currently, there are 3 industrial parks that have been approved for investment by the Prime Minister. In addition, the Hanoi High-Tech Biotechnology Park has been established by the Prime Minister's decision and the Bac Thuong Tin Industrial Park has been appraised by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval of investment policy.
In addition, foreign affairs activities have received comprehensive attention and achieved many important results. Foreign affairs work continues to be strengthened and expanded on all three channels of party diplomacy, state diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy. Investment, trade and tourism promotion activities combined with foreign affairs activities, trade connection, and product promotion have achieved certain results.
