The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just announced the admission scores for grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools for the 2024-2025 school year.
With over 105,000 candidates taking the exam while the quota for public schools is only over 60%, there will be tens of thousands of candidates who are not eligible to be admitted.
However, students still have many other opportunities. According to the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Tran The Cuong, there are currently many types of schools in the city that are suitable for students' abilities and learning aspirations. Affirming that the capital ensures places for students to study, Mr. Cuong said that in the 2024-2025 school year, in addition to the public high school system, Hanoi also has a system of private schools, 29 vocational education - continuing education centers and nearly 50 vocational education institutions that enroll 10th grade students.
According to the announcement of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in addition to the system of 117 public high schools, Hanoi also has nearly 100 self-financed public high schools and private high schools in many districts.
This year's top 10 unexpectedly includes Doan Ket-Hai Ba Trung High School - a school that is in the middle group and in 2023 has a fairly high benchmark score of 40 points.
In 2024, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training assigned the enrollment quota for grade 10 to private high schools to recruit 673 new classes and 29,636 quotas. Hanoi also assigned 29 vocational education and continuing education centers in the area to recruit 259 new grade 10 classes with 11,540 students; assigned 46 vocational education institutions (including secondary schools and colleges that teach high school culture) to recruit 348 grade 10 classes with 15,220 students.
The total enrollment target for grade 10 of all training types is over 56,000.
The subjects of admission to vocational education institutions are students who have completed secondary school in 30 districts, towns and cities of the capital. The training method of this type of school is vocational education at intermediate level combined with cultural studies of the regular education program at high school level. Accordingly, graduates who meet the requirements according to regulations will be eligible to take the high school graduation exam to get the results for admission to universities and colleges./.
