People actively responded to the campaign
To ensure the safety, effectiveness and quality of the campaign, the Hanoi Department of Health has established three inspection teams to evaluate the organization and implementation of the vaccination campaign in districts, towns and cities.
On the first day of the campaign, 8 districts and towns carried out vaccinations, including: Long Bien, Phu Xuyen, Phuc Tho, Thuong Tin, Dong Anh, Hoai Duc, Son Tay, Thach That. The remaining localities will carry out vaccinations in the following days.
According to the Hanoi Department of Health, through statistical review, the whole city is expected to have about 70,000 subjects subject to vaccination, including children aged 1-5 years old living in Hanoi and medical staff at risk at medical examination and treatment facilities treating measles patients in the area who have not received enough doses of vaccination as prescribed.
On the first day of Hanoi's measles vaccination campaign, at vaccination sites, many children of the right age were fully vaccinated by their parents.
According to the reporter of Kinh te & Do thi newspaper at the vaccination point of Di Trach Commune Health Station (Hoai Duc District, Hanoi), from early morning, parents lined up to bring their children to the vaccination point. To welcome people, the Health Station has arranged enough seats; divided the reception area, examination and consultation, vaccination, and post-vaccination monitoring to avoid congestion.
Taking advantage of the early morning to take her 5-year-old grandson to get the measles vaccine before going to school, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nu in Di Trach commune, Hoai Duc district said that due to her family's special circumstances, her 5-year-old grandson had not yet received a measles vaccine. Now her family is very excited that her grandson will be vaccinated for free.
Upon receiving the information through the school's review, Mr. Nguyen Van Son (Di Trach commune, Hoai Duc, Hanoi) also hurriedly took his 4-year-old daughter to get the measles vaccine.
“My child has only had one measles vaccination in 2021. Then, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, my family has not taken him to get all the vaccinations. When I learned that Hanoi was launching a free vaccination campaign for children, I took the opportunity to take my child to get vaccinated immediately to prevent the disease,” Mr. Son shared.
Nguyen Dinh Hung, Deputy Head of the Di Trach Commune Health Station, said that on the first day of vaccination, the Di Trach Commune Health Station plans to vaccinate about 120 children who are eligible for this vaccination. Children who have contraindications or need to postpone vaccination will be scheduled for a combination vaccination on another day when they are healthy enough.
With a staff of 9 people and 6 village health workers, the station mobilized all its human resources to serve the vaccination session; along with the support of the Hoai Duc District Medical Center, an emergency team was arranged to respond to situations during the vaccination session.
According to the records at the An Khanh A Kindergarten vaccination site (Van Lung, An Khanh Commune, Hoai Duc District), the organization and implementation of additional measles-rubella vaccination for children was also carefully prepared. At the vaccination site, from 6 am, parents brought their children to receive free measles vaccinations. Having never had measles, Bui Bao Ngoc (3.5 years old, in An Khanh, Hoai Duc, Hanoi) was taken by her mother to get the second vaccination.
“Localyally, children are vaccinated safely, parents do not have to worry about the cost. This is the thoughtful concern of the State and the health sector for children's health,” Ngoc's mother shared.
According to An Khanh Commune Health Station, the commune has a large number of children vaccinated this time with 677 children. Up to 100 personnel were mobilized to support this vaccination campaign.
Ensuring safe, effective and quality vaccination campaigns
Deputy Director of Hoai Duc District Health Center Hoang Thi Thanh said that on the first day of Hanoi's measles vaccination campaign, Hoai Duc District Health Center organized mass vaccinations at 20/20 commune and town health centers and schools. About 2,500 children were vaccinated today.
“For vaccination sites with a small number of children coming for vaccination, the district health center has on-site human resources and health stations. Particularly at the An Khanh commune vaccination site with an expected number of nearly 700 children, we have to arrange up to 5 vaccination lines to support the commune; along with an emergency team to handle post-vaccination incidents on-site” - Deputy Director of Hoai Duc district health center informed.
Similarly, at Van Tu Commune Health Station (Phu Xuyen District) and Minh Cuong Commune Health Station (Thuong Tin District), from early morning, many families brought their children to be vaccinated in response to the campaign.
Through screening, Phu Xuyen district has about 1,800 subjects eligible for vaccination, of which Van Tu commune health station vaccinated 45 children. Thuong Tin district has about 1,200 subjects eligible for vaccination. Minh Cuong commune health station alone vaccinated 61 cases.
Reception, examination, consultation, vaccination, and post-vaccination monitoring are carried out seriously at vaccination sites, with reasonable arrangements and one-way procedures.
A representative of the Hanoi Department of Health assessed that during the first vaccination session, the reception, examination, consultation, vaccination, and post-vaccination monitoring were carried out seriously at the vaccination sites, arranged reasonably, safely, and according to a one-way process.
Before that, all subjects eligible for vaccination were specifically listed and fully informed of the time and place of vaccination. Medical staff participating in vaccination were instructed and retrained in technical expertise. Propaganda work was carried out with rich content and forms to each person, family and school in the area.
To ensure that children of the right age are vaccinated this time, the health sector has checked the schools and the children at home through the village health team. Even for children who are transient and living in the area, the situation will be known to inform parents to take their children for vaccination. The city's goal is to not miss any children who are eligible for vaccination.
