Hanoi spends over 6 billion VND to give gifts to meritorious people on the occasion of National Day September 2

As planned, on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2024), the Hanoi People's Committee will present gifts to nearly 2,900 policy beneficiaries who are meritorious people and revolutionary bases in the area.

Accordingly, the city gave gifts worth 2 million VND/gift (in cash) to the following subjects: Revolutionary activists before January 1, 1945 (revolutionary veterans); revolutionary activists from January 1, 1945 to the August 1945 Uprising (pre-uprising); revolutionary activists and resistance fighters who were imprisoned or exiled by the enemy.

This gift level is also given to people who have contributed to the revolution and are awarded the "Fatherland's Gratitude" Medal or "Certificate of Merit to the Country"; family members are awarded the "Fatherland's Gratitude" Medal or "Certificate of Merit to the Country".

In case the person whose name is on the "National Merit" Medal or "Certificate of Merit to the Country" has died, the representative of the wife, husband and children will receive the gift.

In case an individual belongs to the above categories of meritorious people, he/she will only receive one gift from the city.

For outstanding units and individuals, the city authorized the leaders of Ha Dong district and the districts of Gia Lam, Quoc Oai, Chuong My, Phuc Tho, Dong Anh, and Ung Hoa to visit and present gifts to collectives with revolutionary bases. These are units and collectives that have been awarded the title "Certificate of merit for the country" or "Commemorative medal for meritorious service to the revolution during the resistance war" by the State.

The gift value is 16 million VND/unit, including 15 million VND in cash and a gift worth 1 million VND.

The city also authorized the leaders of the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to visit and present gifts to 60 families who are typical meritorious people and are eligible to receive gifts on this anniversary (each district, town and city selects 2 families).

The total number of gift recipients is 2,891 gifts, with a total cost of 6.12 billion VND, guaranteed from the city and district budgets according to decentralization and other legally mobilized sources.

Units are responsible for using funds in accordance with regulations, paying the right subjects, following the correct regimes and policies, and settling implementation costs in accordance with the provisions of the State Budget Law.

In addition to the budget from the above-mentioned sources, the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities; Heads of relevant units shall base on donated sources and other permitted sources to decide on the levels of gifts for people with meritorious services on this anniversary.

The Hanoi People's Committee requested units to fully and promptly implement preferential policies of the Party and State for people with meritorious services, contributing to taking care of their material and spiritual lives.

Localities in the area need to organize visits and gift giving in accordance with policies, to the right subjects, publicly and democratically; proactively detect and strictly handle cases of violations, policy abuse, and incomplete gift payments according to regulations.

The city assigned the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to coordinate with relevant units to guide, deploy and organize the implementation of the gift-giving plan. At the same time, inspect and supervise the visits and gift-giving, promptly detect and strictly handle violations in the implementation of the gift-giving policy.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City directs the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to monitor and receive feedback from the people, detect cases of policy abuse, so that the responsible authorities can resolve and ensure that gift policies are delivered to the beneficiaries in a timely and adequate manner.
