The 2023 Asian Challenger Cup Women's Volleyball Tournament has come to an end after 7 days of competition. The Organizing Committee has determined that the two teams entering the final match are host Indonesia and Vietnam. The match will take place at 7:00 p.m. on June 25 at the Tridharma Sports Hall - Indonesia.
In addition to the championship, the winning team in the final will receive a ticket to the 2023 World Challenger Cup. At the world stage, the champion team will get the only wild card to the 2024 Volleyball Nations League - the world's top volleyball tournament for national teams.
Round 1: Vietnam won 25-18 Indonesia
Entering the match with careful preparation, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team quickly took the lead by 2-0. Although the host Indonesia leveled the score at 2-2 and fierce competition followed, the Vietnamese girls still excellently finished the match with a score of 25-18.
Round 2: Vietnam lost 25-27 to Indonesia
After conceding a goal to the visiting team Vietnam, the host team Indonesia focused all their resources on the main attacking force Megawaiti. With the added pressure from the home fans in the stands, Indonesia successfully regained control in the second half when leading 10-7.
Immediately, the Vietnamese team quickly accelerated to level the score at 10-10. The race became more exciting when the two teams played evenly in the remaining half of the match. In the decisive series of points, the host Indonesia took the lead and won 27-25.
Game 3: Vietnam lost 21-25 to Indonesia
With another winning round to tie the score, the host girls of Indonesia played more confidently and passionately. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team fell into a psychological state that made their spirit tense, making many unnecessary mistakes, especially in the first step.
Understanding Vietnam's weakness, Indonesia continuously created powerful counterattacks to win 25-21 in the third round.
Game 4: Vietnam won 25-19 Indonesia
Continuing the momentum, the Indonesian team completely overwhelmed Vietnam in the first half. On the other side, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet continuously gave his players tips to turn the game around and bring home the victory in this half.
Round 5: Vietnam won 25-13 Indonesia
The match was again level at 2-2, so both teams went into a fifth overtime period to determine the winner. In the deciding period, Vietnam took the lead to take control of the game, leading 5-3.
After a series of tight points, Vietnam excellently won the first Asian championship in history when Vi Thi Nhu Quynh scored the 15th point on the opponent's court. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team officially entered the world arena, the team will go to France to participate in the 2023 World Challenger Cup taking place in France from July 27 to July 30.
