Hanyu Yuzuru, 29, is no stranger to Gucci. Last year, he tried his hand at professional fashion portraits for the inaugural exhibition of the Gucci Gallery in Ginza, Japan.
Starting his figure skating career at the age of 4, Hanyu Yuzuru won gold medals at two consecutive Olympics, the 2014 Sochi Olympics and the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, in the men's singles figure skating event.
Also in 2018, Hanyu became the youngest person to receive the National Prize of Honor from then Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe (1954-2022). This is a widely recognized award for individuals whose high achievements inspire society.
After retiring from professional competition in 2022 and turning to figure skating, Hanyu Yuzuru has held figure skating shows, as well as supported the recovery of his hometown of Sendai after the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Yuzuru Hanyu expressed his joy at becoming a part of the Gucci community, which fosters connections between creators around the world, not just in the fashion industry. “Throughout its long history, Gucci has devoted itself to craftsmanship and unique creativity, and has attracted many fans throughout Japan.”
The ice rink prince “looks forward to continuing to explore the appeal of Gucci in the coming time”.
The current list of Gucci's ambassadors, in addition to Gulf and Hanyu Yuzuru, includes Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, singer and actor Xiao Zhan, soccer player Jack Grealish, Korean-American businessman and rapper Jay Park, Japanese actors Shishon Jun, Paul Mescal, Bad Bunny and A$AP Rocky.
