Tonight, October 14, at the French Embassy in Hanoi, Mr. Olivier Brochet, Ambassador of the Republic of France, on behalf of the French Government, presented the Academic Palm Medal to Professor Nguyen Huu Tu, Rector of Hanoi Medical University. Professor Nguyen Huu Tu is the second representative of the Vietnamese medical industry to receive this award, after the late Associate Professor Ton That Bach.

According to Ambassador Olivier Brochet, the French Government's award of the Academic Palm Medal to Professor Nguyen Huu Tu honors a person who represents both academic excellence and dedication to medicine, as well as tirelessly promoting the values of the Francophone community.
Ambassador Olivier Brochet recalled some important milestones with the contributions of Professor Nguyen Huu Tu in his role as a bridge for medical training cooperation between France and Vietnam. One of his most notable achievements was the development of the French-language medical training program at Hanoi Medical University (established in 2005), making this program a successful model. To date, more than 800 French-speaking doctors have graduated and nearly 100 medical graduation theses have been defended in French before an international jury, including Vietnamese and French professors.
Professor Nguyen Huu Tu personally trained as a resident physician (FFI) in Lyon, France since 1994. He then returned to France several times as a physician and clinical lecturer at Henri Mondor Hospital, Créteil and Paris XII University.
At the ceremony, Professor Nguyen Huu Tu said that Hanoi Medical University with a history of 122 years, the first President was Dr. Alexandre Yersin, a brilliant French scientist and honorary citizen of Vietnam, always a historical, vivid and effective symbol of the French-Vietnamese medical relationship and cooperation.
Therefore, he personally deeply understands the importance of the French-Vietnamese cooperation relationship in medicine, and is grateful for what he has received from his French teachers and colleagues, so he realizes his responsibility to future generations for the task of building a solid foundation for the comprehensive cooperation and development of medicine between Vietnam and France.
