This is an important step to concretize the Party and State's policy of continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus towards streamlining, effective and efficient operations.

Accordingly, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province assigned the Department of Home Affairs to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to research, synthesize and consult comments on the Draft Project. Agencies and units are requested to send comments in appropriate forms for synthesis and reporting to the Provincial People's Committee.
The draft project was developed by the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee and submitted to the Government for consideration, clearly stating the legal basis and the necessity to rearrange the administrative units between the two provinces. According to the project's content, the merger of Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen not only stems from the need to streamline the organizational apparatus, but also aims to maximize the potential for socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security, and promote the unique cultural identities of the two localities.
History also records that, in the period from 1965 to 1996, the two provinces merged into Bac Thai province. The re-establishment of Bac Kan province from 1997 to present has achieved many remarkable achievements. However, according to the analysis in the draft, the current population size of Bac Kan province is still low (more than 365 thousand people), the area is mainly mountainous, the infrastructure system is still limited, while Thai Nguyen is the regional center, with many favorable conditions for transportation, industry, education and services...
The arrangement is expected to create a unified development space, taking advantage of resources, labor, industry, education, health and tourism; complementing and allocating resources reasonably. At the same time, connecting key traffic routes, supporting the improvement of people's lives, especially in remote areas./.
