Donald Trump expressed skepticism about the plan to break up Google, saying he would do "something" to make Google "more fair" if he regained the US presidency.

Former President Donald Trump has described Google as a bulwark against China's tech ambitions. "China is afraid of Google," Trump told Bloomberg News at an event on October 15. He questioned whether a breakup could "destroy the company," although he said he was no fan of Google. "If you don't break it up, what you can do is make it more fair," Trump said. Trump's comments signal a different approach to antitrust action against Google, according to the New York Times . Just last month, he said he would sue Google for showing "bad stories" about him. In August, a US federal judge ruled that Google had an illegal monopoly in the internet search market. Most recently, the US Justice Department said it was considering breaking up Google. Google declined to comment on Trump's remarks. The US tech giant has argued that a split could hurt US interests in a heated geopolitical competition with China for dominance in areas like AI. Trump reiterated that view on October 15. “It’s a very dangerous thing because we want great companies,” he said. “We don’t want China to have them.” He also revealed that he called CEO Sundar Pichai to complain that despite having great stories about him, he couldn’t find them on Google.Vietnamnet.vn
