Cambodia Men's team with Le Khanh Hung, Nguyen Anh Minh, Doan Uy received silver medal after losing 1-2 to Thailand in the final match of combined scoring at Garden City course.

In the gold medal match against Thailand today, May 13, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese golf team still kept the same lineup of Khanh Hung, Anh Minh, and Doan Uy as when they defeated Indonesia in the semi-finals.

Khanh Hung took the lead, Doan Uy went in the middle, and Anh Minh "locked the tail" to fight Ratchanon Chantananuwat, Arsit Areephun, and Jiradech Chaowarat in turn.

Chantananuwat and Areephun attended the 31st SEA Games at Dam Vac last year and both finished T4 individually. Coming to the Games in Cambodia this year, Chantananuwat has "transformed" after more than a year of testing through many tournaments under the LIV Golf League, which brings together more than 30 former PGA Tour champions and the Asian Tour, including winning a cup in April 2022.

However, when facing Khanh Hung, Chantananuwat only lasted until hole 13 and lost with a result of 6&5. This was Khanh Hung's third consecutive win in the team event after setting the championship mark of -13 in the individual stroke play group, giving Vietnam its first representative to win a gold medal since golf was introduced to the SEA Games program in 1985, then interrupted for two terms and then fixed since 2005. This achievement was even more memorable when Nguyen Anh Minh received a bronze medal after five extra holes.

With Khanh Hung's victory over Chantananuwat in the first round of the team final today, the Vietnamese men's golf team thought they were close to winning a double gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games. But that historic achievement did not come.

After Khanh Hung overwhelmed Chantananuwat, both Doan Uy and Anh Minh were in a stalemate with their opponents.

Facing Areephun, Doan Uy led 2up at hole 5, but could not increase the advantage from then until the end of hole 13. In the next three holes, Areephun unexpectedly recorded a series of birdies to take a 1-up lead when leaving hole 16. In hole 17, Doan Uy kept par, while Areephun birdied again to win 2&1. At that time, Chaowarat defeated Anh Minh at hole 16 with a result of 3&2. Looking at the last three holes of the match, Anh Minh missed the opportunity to tie at hole 14, losing both remaining holes.

The men's team event ended with a gold medal for Thailand, a silver for Vietnam, and a bronze for Indonesia. In the women's bracket, the top 3 were Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia, respectively.

In a match played in a standard round, each hole is won by 1 up. The player wins the match by winning more ups than holes remaining. The result is indicated by the number of ups first, followed by the number of holes remaining.
