The event is held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of the State Records and Archives Department Nguyen Thi Nga said: "Today's event is an extremely important activity, demonstrating the responsibility and role of the archives agency in the task of publishing and promoting the value of archival documents to create conditions for the public to access important, reliable historical sources about a very important event of the Capital. Through the documents, it will help the public relive the glorious moments, the historical moment when our nation persistently fought to regain independence as well as feel the joyful moments of the people of the Capital when they first took control of their own destiny."

Director of National Archives Center III Tran Viet Hoa said: "Currently, the center is storing and preserving thousands of meters of documents related to the event of October 10, 1954. The center manages unique documents (original documents) of permanent value of central agencies such as the National Assembly, the Government and ministries and branches. Looking at the direction documents of the Party, the Government and central agencies, as well as the implementation of those directions by ministries and branches, it can be affirmed that we are the unit managing the largest number of documents among the units that are storing documents and images related to October 10, 1954".

"Therefore, based on that characteristic and the responsibility of archivists who always want the value of documents to be promoted, in recent years, the National Archives Center III has organized many activities to celebrate the Liberation Day of the Capital. Continuing the success of the activities in previous years, the event "Introducing national archives on the takeover of the Capital" is a deep gift of gratitude to the soldiers, cadres, and workers who have devoted themselves to the Liberation Day of the Capital. At the same time, the event also contributes to educating the revolutionary tradition, educating about national history, and the heroic history of the Capital for today's generations, thereby contributing to building the Capital to be increasingly rich, civilized, and modern" - Ms. Tran Viet Hoa said.
The event selected to introduce nearly 200 original images and archival documents that are being preserved at the National Archives Center III from backgrounds such as: the National Assembly, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Ministry of Transport and Public Works, the Ministry of Agriculture, photographer Nguyen Ba Khoan, photo collector Dang Tich, Professor Hoang Minh Giam, musician Van Cao, musician Nguyen Duc Toan, musician Huy Du...
Some documents on display at the presentation of national archives on the takeover of the Capital
These documents are evidences contributing to the reconstruction of the heroic historical moments of the nation and the Capital since the Geneva Agreement in 1954 was signed. Some of the documents introduced are: Program, plan and personnel for the takeover of the Capital Hanoi, including documents on the establishment of the Hanoi Administrative Committee; Official Dispatch No. 236-TTg dated July 27, 1954 of the Prime Minister's Office on the plan to guide and direct the restoration of old towns and cities; Official Dispatch No. 1678 ZYO/3 dated August 20, 1954 of the Ministry of Health on sending youth volunteers to take over; Plan of the Ministry of Finance on the takeover of Hanoi in 1954...
There are also some typical reports and images such as: Report on the reception of our army and government on October 10, 1954; soldiers coming to take over Hanoi Flag Tower, women in the capital radiantly welcoming the liberation army, the sacred flag-raising ceremony on the afternoon of October 10, 1954...
Images displayed at the introduction of national archives on the takeover of the Capital
At the event, the Organizing Committee also introduced documents of musicians whose records are archived at the National Archives Center III such as: Van Cao, Huy Du, Nguyen Duc Toan with songs about Hanoi: "Tien ve Ha Noi", "Se ve Thu do", "Ha Noi, trai tim hong"... Thereby, helping viewers see a Hanoi that is both poetic and heroic.
The archival documents of the National Archives Center III introduced contain reliable information about the process of our army and people liberating and taking over the capital, affirming the close leadership, close adherence to the people, reliance on the people for activities and the resilient and indomitable spirit of the army and people of Hanoi.
The event attracted a large audience.
Within the framework of the presentation of national archives on the takeover of the Capital, guests who were historical witnesses: Colonel Duong Niet, photographer Trinh Hai... shared their emotional memories of the historic moment; and at the same time presented National Archives Center III with some valuable photos and souvenirs.
These documents and images will continue to be displayed at the exhibition "Hanoi - Memories of the days of takeover" scheduled to open on October 2, 2024 at the Exhibition House 61 Trang Tien, Hanoi, organized by the National Archives Center III in coordination with the Information Center, Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports./.
