Teachers predict that students will easily get scores above 7 in History and Geography.

This morning (June 28), candidates taking the 2024 high school graduation exam have just completed the combined exam. Evaluating the component subjects in the social science combined exam, Mr. Ho Nhu Hien, a history teacher in Hanoi, said that the 2024 high school graduation exam in history consists of 40 multiple choice questions. The exam content focuses on 12th grade history knowledge. Of which, 26 questions are related (accounting for 65%) to the content of Vietnamese history from 1919 to 1975, with 1 question after 1975.

The exam has 4 questions from the 11th grade history program, including 1 question about the Russian October Revolution in 1917 and the construction of socialism in the Soviet Union (1921 - 1941). 2 questions about the major content of Vietnamese history from the end of the 19th century to the end of World War I. 1 question about World War II.

The test begins to differentiate from question 30, and is highly differentiated from question 33 to question 40. The test has 2 questions related to both grade 11 and grade 12 knowledge.

“The official exam for the 2024 graduation exam has a knowledge distribution ratio of grades 12/11, knowledge distribution ratio: 36/04, compared to the 2024 sample exam of the Ministry of Education and Training, the official exam has a change in the way of asking but not in the structure. The exam is accurate, suitable and differentiates students well from question 30 onwards. A prominent feature of the 2024 History exam is that there are questions taken from materials outside the textbook, however, that knowledge is still within the scope of knowledge learned so it is completely suitable. Students who have a firm grasp of the basic knowledge in the textbook will do well on such questions.

With this year's exam, students can easily achieve a score of 7 or above. Good students will do well up to question 35. To achieve a score of 9 or 10, in addition to thorough knowledge preparation, students need to solve the questions quickly and accurately, and maintain a stable mentality and health," said Mr. Hien.

Regarding Geography, Mr. Vu Hai Nam, a teacher at the High School for the Gifted in Social Sciences and Humanities, commented that compared to the 2024 sample test, the official test closely followed the sample test matrix announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, the content was completely within the 12th grade Geography program, consistent with the adjusted content implemented in the 2023-2024 school year.

The questions are arranged in order of increasing difficulty, with a mix of theory and practice, so candidates can easily classify candidates according to their level. The test has many questions that require the use of Geography skills, requiring candidates to apply the subject's research and calculation skills. The questions that differentiate candidates require students to have coherent thinking, broad social knowledge, grasp updated news, have high problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

"In general, the 2024 Geography exam is very good and suitable for the subject curriculum in class. The exam has high differentiation, so it is not too difficult for students to achieve 7 points or more in graduation. Candidates who want to achieve high scores need to do well in the last questions, these are questions that require a long and regular training process. Candidates who review, prepare carefully and do many questions according to the sample exam structure will definitely achieve high results," said Mr. Nam.

Regarding Civic Education, Ms. Doan Thi Vanh Khuyen said that the high school graduation exam has clear knowledge differentiation, the difficult questions start from high-level application questions, the questions are similar to the sample exam questions and the survey exam questions of the Ministry. Compared to the exam questions of previous years, this year's exam has a new question format in the form of true-false statements (these are the questions that students get wrong the most).

In terms of content, the exam mainly focuses on the 12th grade Civic Education program. The exam also includes a number of questions related to 11th grade knowledge. The 2024 high school graduation exam has 36 questions related to 12th grade knowledge (accounting for 90%); 4 questions related to 11th grade knowledge (accounting for 10%).

The questions are on familiar topics of grade 12 such as law enforcement, citizens' equal rights in some areas of life (Marriage and family, Labor, Business), citizens with basic freedoms (Right to inviolability of the body, right to protection of life and health...), citizens with democratic rights (Right to complain, denounce; right to participate in state and social management...).

The sentences at low and high application levels fall into the topics of equal rights in some areas of social life, types of law violations, and basic rights of citizens.

“The questions are within the basic knowledge range, not tricky. The high-level application questions are relatively complex, with many details, requiring students to have a solid understanding of the theory to correctly analyze the nature of the violations of the characters. Requires good thinking and quickness in handling situations,” said Ms. Khuyen.
