On October 6, in Thai Nguyen city, the Center for Women and Development (Vietnam Women's Union) coordinated with the Thai Nguyen Provincial Women's Union to organize the activity "Exchange and connection, introducing livelihood models to support community integration for returned trafficked women".

This is one of the activities within the framework of Project 8 “Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children” under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period. The program aims to exploit the potential and advantages of localities in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, promote economic development, ensure social security, and reduce poverty quickly and sustainably.

The activity gathered 22 typical livelihood models of women, especially women from ethnic minority and mountainous areas. These included the participation of trafficked women returning home, migrant women living in Thai Nguyen province and neighboring provinces, participating in livelihood models, groups, cooperatives or in need of support for community integration.

The activity is organized to replicate good models and practices to introduce, promote and honor OCOP products, typical handicraft products and some specialties of the province to people inside and outside the province; at the same time, support product branding, improve production and business efficiency, encourage ethnic minority women and religious women to boldly participate in economic development and sustainable poverty reduction.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Duong Thi Ngoc Linh, Director of the Center for Women and Development, said that with the mission of working for the comprehensive development of women, over the years, the Center has implemented many activities to support vulnerable women who have suffered from gender-based violence, helping them fully realize their rights and the necessary skills to take control of their lives. The Center is particularly interested in enhancing women's economic empowerment through vocational training support, job creation and connecting product consumption to help them return home sustainably.

The activity "Exchange and connection, introducing livelihood models to support community integration for returned trafficked women" lasts until October 8, including many meaningful activities such as communicating knowledge about food safety, exchanging with people to learn about food safety knowledge...

At the workshop “Prevention and combat of human trafficking in the new situation” organized by the Vietnam Women’s Academy on September 27, Major, Dr. Nguyen Van Oanh (People’s Police Academy) said that currently, the majority of human trafficking is for the purpose of labor exploitation, occurring mainly within the domestic scope (accounting for more than 90%). Female victims still account for a high proportion, often sold to serve in massage parlors, karaoke parlors, etc.
