Reducing power loss in the power system in Ha Tinh

Re-planning the power grid, "implanting" more transformer stations, fixing defects in equipment..., Ha Tinh Electricity Company is making efforts to minimize the rate of power loss in the "sprint" at the end of 2023.

Can Loc Power Company is managing and operating nearly 280 km of medium voltage lines, nearly 780 km of low voltage lines, 298 transformer stations and selling electricity to nearly 51,000 customers. In 2023, the unit was assigned by Ha Tinh Power Company to have an electricity loss rate of 5.58%.

With many enhanced solutions, the cumulative 9 months, the unit has achieved a power loss rate of 5.51% (down 0.07% compared to the assigned plan). This result demonstrates the great determination of all officers and workers of Can Loc Power Company in the process of managing and operating the grid system.

Mr. Tran Anh Dung - Director of Can Loc Power Company said: “Since the beginning of the year, the unit has developed and implemented specific solutions to improve the reliability of power supply. 100% of the troops have been deployed to reduce losses at transformer stations (TS) with monthly power loss of over 2,000 kWh; focusing on planning to reconnect the grid to match the power supply radius. After re-connecting the grid, many TSs have reduced the power loss rate by 0.7 - 1.5% such as: Binh My, Van Thinh (Xuan Loc commune), Hong Phong 1 TS, Khanh Loc 1 pumping station (Khanh Vinh Yen commune)... In addition, incidents on the unit's power grid have also decreased sharply, with only 4 incidents occurring in 9 months".

Recently, Ha Tinh City Power Company has also focused on reducing the rate of power loss. Accordingly, the unit has carried out phase balancing of 125 transformer stations; inspected and installed 328 low-voltage capacitor banks, replaced and repaired 124 low-voltage capacitor banks; replaced 2,543 periodic meters and replaced and upgraded 15 km of low-voltage lines. In addition, the unit has also put into operation 2 22 kV feeders to load the feeder lines after the 110 kV Thach Linh transformer station with a total investment of 15 billion VND...

Ha Tinh City Electricity launched a campaign to reduce power loss on the grid.

According to Mr. Tran Xuan Thong - Director of Ha Tinh City Electricity, for substations with a long power supply radius, the power loss rate is over 5% such as: Thach Tan 9, Thach Linh 9, Van Yen 11, Thach Ha 4, Thach Quy 8..., the unit has "implanted" 13 new substations. Thereby, reducing the loss rate of these stations to only 3%. In 2023, Ha Tinh City Electricity was assigned by Ha Tinh Electricity Company to have a power loss rate of 3.8%. Accumulated in 9 months, the power loss rate implemented by the unit was 4.55% (not reaching the assigned plan). Therefore, in the final sprint of the year, the unit continues to strengthen technical solutions to soon reach the target.

“The unit continues to re-plan the low-voltage grid, cut off the supply, and share the load between substations to reduce the power supply radius in accordance with the current status of the grid. At the same time, continue to strengthen the phase balancing work, prioritizing substations with a phase deviation ratio of over 25%; focus on overcoming defects, cutting off the corridor, and handling the supply of substations with losses of over 5% and output of over 2,000 kWh. Coordinate to speed up the progress of grid construction investment projects such as: the project to replace 0.4kV conductors operating for many years through Dai Nai, Bac Ha wards, Thach Ha commune..., the project to replace 11 transformers operating for many years with transformers according to new standards...” - Mr. Tran Xuan Thong added.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc - Deputy Head of Technical Department, Ha Tinh Power Company said: "In 2023, the loss of commercial electricity assigned by the Northern Power Corporation to Ha Tinh Power Company is 6.79%. In the first 9 months, the company's performance is 7.54% (still 0.75% higher than the assigned plan). In the coming time, the company will continue to control the 110kV power grid incidents, effectively operate the compensation capacitor system at medium-voltage busbars of 110kV substations in the area. At the same time, pilot the control and replacement of medium and low-voltage measurement systems at specialized substations for medium-voltage lines with high power loss rates and large power consumption (average > 50,000kWh/month); strengthen insulation cleaning on the grid using hotline technology, clean high-voltage insulation, low-voltage transformers that are very dirty. Conduct inspection, review and re-planning of low-voltage grids in Public substations have inappropriate grid connections; focus on balancing the phase of overloaded distribution transformers, operating out of phase, especially transformers with phase deviation of more than 25%...".

In addition, Ha Tinh Power Company also focuses on developing programs to control loss calculation data, promoting specialized inspections of power losses at affiliated units. Strictly control power losses at public substations, medium voltage lines with sudden increases and decreases in losses between reading periods; regularly monitor losses at each voltage level on the CMIS3.0 program to evaluate and propose timely solutions. At the same time, the company coordinates to accelerate the progress of investment projects to build a smart and streamlined power grid.
