Minimize the risk of food poisoning through traceability

Food traceability is an important solution to protect consumer health, prevent dirty food and increase confidence in product quality.

Application of modern technology

In the context of today's food market, ensuring food safety is becoming increasingly urgent, not only for consumers but also for the whole society.

Food traceability is an important solution to protect consumer health, prevent dirty food and increase confidence in product quality.

Food poisoning, dirty food, and food of unknown origin occur continuously, seriously affecting public health and consumer confidence.

To cope with this situation, food traceability is becoming one of the important solutions to ensure food safety and protect the health of consumers.

Food traceability is the process of tracking, recording and providing complete information about the journey of food from production, processing, transportation until it reaches the consumer.

Through the application of modern technologies such as barcodes, QR codes, RFID (radio frequency identification), consumers can easily check the origin, quality and information related to food before deciding to use it.

Recently, the Government has issued many regulations related to the application of traceability in the production and trade of goods.

International standards such as GS1, ISO 22005 are becoming common measures to assess the traceability of products.

Compliance with these standards not only helps businesses improve production processes but also facilitates the export of goods to demanding markets such as the EU, US, Japan, etc.

Mr. Pho Duc Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Barcode Association, said that the solution of tracing origin through QR codes and software systems applied throughout the production, processing, marketing and distribution stages is becoming an urgent requirement to protect products and goods from counterfeit and fake goods.

This is an urgent requirement for automating the entire process of tracing the origin of goods and products in the processing and distribution chain and making information about the brands of goods and products transparent.

Mr. Pho Duc Son wants to build a unified, transparent and effective information chain - a chain that not only enhances product value but also protects consumer rights.

The traceability solution needs to be closely linked to the National Product and Goods Traceability Portal. This not only creates a solid foundation for sustainable development but also opens up opportunities for international trade and cooperation, helping Vietnamese products affirm their position in the global market.

Strengthen inspection and supervision from the root

In order to ensure consumer safety, districts in Hanoi have recently implemented many solutions to increase the effectiveness of food traceability.

Statistics from the Hanoi Department of Health show that recently, this agency has inspected, monitored and traced the origin of food at 19 food service establishments in the airport area. The results showed that 12 establishments met the standards and rapid testing of food samples showed that 190/190 samples met the requirements.

Vice Chairman of Thanh Tri District People's Committee, Hanoi City, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung said that to control the quality of agricultural, forestry and fishery products from the production site to the dining table, the district has been planning and developing concentrated safe agricultural production areas that meet VietGAP standards.

In the coming time, Thanh Tri will continue to request specialized departments, communes and towns to focus on directing pilot models and food safety projects according to the city's plan; strengthen propaganda and dissemination of State documents and regulations on food safety, and mobilize food production and trading establishments to properly implement food safety measures.

In addition, the district's functional forces have increased planned and unscheduled inspections at food production and trading establishments and collective kitchens; strictly handled establishments violating food safety regulations, and prevented food poisoning incidents from occurring in the district.

Mr. Ho Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Son district, said that the district has strengthened the management of agricultural material quality and food safety of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the area; expanded safe production areas to control quality.

In addition, the district organizes inspections, evaluations, and classifications of agricultural, forestry, and fishery production establishments; strengthens inspections of agricultural, forestry, and fishery production establishments classified as C that do not ensure adequate food hygiene and safety conditions. If there is no change, strict handling must be carried out according to the provisions of law.

Soc Son district also strengthens supervision and prevention of food poisoning, prepares sufficient forces and necessary equipment, and is ready to investigate and handle food safety incidents occurring in the area; at the same time, urges and guides the implementation of pilot models on food safety and safe food production chains.
