On September 16, the Provincial Food Safety and Hygiene Department (Department of Health) concluded that the food poisoning case at the collective cafeteria of Sunrise Apparel Vietnam Co., Ltd., Hoang Xa Industrial Park, Thanh Thuy District on August 28, 2024 was caused by workers in the Company eating mackerel containing high levels of Histamine.

Based on the results of the investigation into the food poisoning case, the results of testing samples of specimens, stored food, and opinions of the medical examination and treatment facilities... The Food Safety and Hygiene Department determined that this was a mass food poisoning case caused by eating high levels of Histamine in braised mackerel during lunch on August 28, 2024 at this Company.

To handle violations after food safety inspection, the Food Safety Investigation Team and the Food Safety Inspection Team of the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Department coordinated and provided relevant documents as requested by Thanh Thuy District Police to serve the investigation and handling of violations of the law against organizations and individuals violating food safety.

Previously, on August 28, after having lunch at Sunrise Apparel Vietnam Co., Ltd., 154 workers of this company suffered from food poisoning with symptoms: Headache, dizziness, nausea, itching and rash on the skin, abdominal pain, chest tightness, lip numbness... At medical facilities, the patients were classified, given emergency treatment, timely treatment and discharged on August 30, 2024.

Workers of Sunrise Apparel Vietnam Co., Ltd. who suffered poisoning were treated at Thanh Thuy District Medical Center.

Faced with the above situation, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department requested the Phu Tho Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management to strengthen inspection and supervision of units under its management that have contracts to supply food to collective kitchens of enterprises and schools.

Timely prevent unsafe foods, foods that are not properly preserved, trace the origin of foods, etc. to ensure consumer health.

The Department of Food Safety and Hygiene requests the People's Committee of Thanh Thuy district and the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns to continue to fully and seriously implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 2178/UBND-KGVX dated June 3, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on proactively strengthening the implementation of measures to prevent and handle food poisoning.

In which, focus on propaganda, inspection and supervision of food safety in collective kitchens of enterprises and schools in the area according to management decentralization.
