2023 is the 9th year of the National Award for Foreign Information. With each edition, the award has increasingly demonstrated its prestige, attracting a large number of authors and groups of authors to participate. In your opinion, what are the factors that make the award successful?
It can be said that entering its 9th season, the National Award for Foreign Information has established its position in the national award system and has really attracted the attention of those working in foreign information and those who do not work in foreign information.
The causes are due to the following factors:
Firstly , foreign information work is increasingly receiving attention from all levels and sectors from the central to local levels. This is no longer the sole work of a single sector, or the sole work of those working in foreign information.
Localities are also very interested in promoting their strengths in the international arena; each sector in its international integration work is also interested in promoting its activities in the international arena. And each citizen, when going abroad, through cultural and sports activities, also has more international exposure.
Second , the Award system itself has expanded to many categories, demonstrating the vibrancy and richness of foreign information work, not only in the field of journalism, in products to promote Vietnam abroad, but also in ideas and activities to spread the image of Vietnam positively in the international arena.
Therefore, the Award has a very unique category of "Initiatives and products with foreign information value". In addition, the Award also approaches new media products, with the category of Short Video clips, suitable for new media trends on cyberspace and social networks. In fact, products like this have a very good spreading and information effect.
It can be said that the award categories of the Award are very close to real life.
Third , the organization of the Award is increasingly professional and of national stature. In recent seasons, the Award has always received the attention of Party and State leaders and key leaders.
The leaders not only attended but also gave speeches and directly presented the biggest awards. The awards ceremony was held at the Hanoi Opera House and broadcast live on Vietnam Television.
Finally, I would like to emphasize that what makes the award different is that the awardees, as I mentioned above, are not only professional foreign information workers but can also be artists, citizens and international friends who love Vietnam.
There were authors far from Vietnam who were very surprised to receive information about the award and responded very enthusiastically. They said they were surprised and moved to receive the Award.
Some authors shared that, with all their love for Vietnam, they wanted to write about Vietnam, talk about Vietnam, and when they were informed that they had won such a prestigious award, they were very moved and willing to spend money to come to Vietnam to receive the award and considered it a real experience. These are the things that make the Award more and more attractive.
As you shared, the special feature of the National Award for Foreign Information is to honor initiatives and short video clips on foreign information, including products made by individuals and organizations that are not press agencies. So, in your opinion, how can we promote these initiatives and video clips in a more official and widespread way?
Here I would like to mention two points. Firstly, there are many initiatives, ideas, and video clips that the authors themselves did not actively submit to the competition, but were discovered, voted for, and awarded by the Organizing Committee thanks to the influence of those products. These products have brought about real effects and effectiveness in promoting Vietnam.
Second , these products themselves already have a spreading effect, so when they are awarded, they continue to be given the opportunity to spread further, creating effects that can be called further resonance for products that have very practical effects in life and in foreign information work.
In your opinion, what improvements are needed in the coming time so that the National Award for Foreign Information can continue to develop and strengthen the reputation of a leading information award?
In recent times, the National Award for Foreign Information has undergone innovations to keep up with the practical needs of foreign information work.
However, we also see the reality changing rapidly, especially in the context of international media and the rapid scientific and technological revolution, along with the achievements and imprints of economic, social development, foreign affairs, security and defense activities of our country are also very rich.

Therefore, to ensure the mark and prestige of the Award, it is necessary to continue to promote the dynamism and creativity of the Award for a long time. Besides, it is also necessary to overcome some categories that tend to fall into a rut.
I think the most important point is to improve the effectiveness and spread of foreign information and use that as a criterion for voting and awarding.
There may be very good and profound articles that are highly appreciated by many experts, but if there is no way to reach many readers and spread to the international arena, it cannot be considered a perfect foreign information product.
These are factors that I think need to be noted in the coming time to continue improving and increasing the appeal and attractiveness of the National Award for Foreign Information.
