On the morning of September 15, in Hanoi, Vietnam Law Newspaper in collaboration with Hung Viet Trade and Tourism Company Limited and Tram Tau District People's Committee (Yen Bai) met with the press to introduce the first "Steps on the Clouds" mountain climbing competition to conquer Ta Chi Nhu peak in 2023.
The tournament will take place from September 29 to October 1 at Ta Chi Nhu peak, Xa Ho commune, Tram Tau district, Yen Bai province with 100 athletes participating. The athletes are journalists and reporters working at news agencies and newspapers from the Central and local levels across the country whose applications have been reviewed and approved by the organizing committee. In particular, the participating athletes will be supported by the organizing committee with travel and accommodation expenses during the tournament.

Participating in the “Steps on the Clouds” Mountain Climbing Race, athletes will have to overcome a distance of about 10km of mountainous roads. The starting point is at the foot of the mountain in Sang Pao village, Xa Ho commune and the finish point is Ta Chi Nhu peak at an altitude of 2,979m above sea level.
The highlight of the mountain climbing route is that athletes will pass through majestic natural landscapes at different altitudes, from primeval forests, low-canopy forests, grasslands, to purple chi pau flower fields...
Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Tran Ngoc Ha, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Law Newspaper and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, said, “Why does the tournament only have 100 athletes participating? We want a lot of them, but the overnight accommodation on the top of Ta Chi Nhu Mountain guarantees to serve no more than 200 people.
In the next tournaments at other peaks and other locations, we will expand the scale to attract more reporters and journalists to participate. So far, the number of registrations has exceeded expectations and the organizing committee will conduct screening to ensure compliance with regulations."
According to the Organizing Committee of the first “Steps on the Clouds” mountain climbing competition to conquer the Ta Chi Nhu peak in 2023, ensuring the safety of athletes is a top priority. Accordingly, the athletes will be insured by the Organizing Committee.
In addition, the 10km route is equipped with 5 medical stations, safety signs, etc. The tournament has 100 athletes participating, but about 70 people are involved in service work, ensuring safety for the tournament. Because the phone signal on the top of Ta Chi Nhu mountain is quite unstable, the members of the Organizing Committee will contact by walkie-talkie to ensure smooth communication.
