The Provincial Journalists Association has just organized the Quang Tri Journalists Association Open Badminton Tournament 2024. Standing Vice President of the Provincial Journalists Association Hoang Ngoc Sy said that this is an annual tournament held on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on June 21 every year to create a useful playground for journalist branches and affiliated journalist clubs, thereby training to improve health, strengthen the physical strength of cadres and members, and build a healthy cultural and sports lifestyle among cadres and members of press agencies in the province.

This is also an opportunity for units and athletes to meet, exchange, learn and share experiences, and strengthen solidarity. Through the tournament, the aim is to discover, select and nurture excellent athletes to participate in provincial sports competitions and regional press sports competitions nationwide.

Considered an important sporting activity for journalists, the Quang Tri Journalists Association Badminton Tournament always receives attention and positive feedback from press agencies and many other agencies and units. Compared to the previous two seasons, the third season of the Quang Tri Journalists Association Open Badminton Tournament 2024 has had many changes to improve the quality of the tournament.

This has brought a new breeze to help the tournament take place more excitingly and attractively from the largest number of athletes participating ever, with nearly 50 male and female athletes who are journalists, officials, workers, civil servants, and agencies in the province, including 10 delegations with 11 units competing in 5 events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.

In particular, among the athletes participating in this tournament, there are many talented athletes who are considered the core of the badminton movement in many agencies and units, having participated in many badminton tournaments at the city and provincial levels with high results.

According to the reporter's records, the professional quality of this year's tournament was quite high. From the first matches to the finals in all 5 categories, everything was exciting and dramatic. The athletes entered the competition with the highest determination, contributing good and emotional matches, notably the semi-final match between athlete Hoang Thanh Su (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Dong Ha City) and athlete Hoang Kim Dung (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Hai Lang District), the final match between athlete Le Minh (Quang Tri Newspaper) and athlete Hoang Kim Dung (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Hai Lang District) in the men's singles; the exciting final match of the women's singles between athlete Truong Thi Luu (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Dong Ha City) and athlete Hoang Linh (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Dakrong District); the final match of the men's doubles between the pair of athletes Doan Son - Ho Nguyen Kha (Quang Tri Newspaper) and the pair of athletes Ho Dai Thang - Phung Bao Son (Quang Tri Radio and Television Station)...

The tournament also recognized the efforts to overcome all difficulties, clearly demonstrating the noble sportsmanship and the beauty of sports culture of the athletes, especially those who participated in many competitions, those who were determined to protect the achievements they had achieved...

The tournament organizers have also arranged a reasonable competition schedule to create the best conditions for athletes to participate in many events.

The referee team ran the tournament impartially, objectively and accurately. In the general joy before the big holiday of journalists, the tournament attracted a large number of spectators and colleagues from press agencies in the province to watch and cheer.

Athlete Ho Dai Thang (Quang Tri Radio and Television Station) excitedly said: “I have participated in 3 seasons and clearly see that the professional quality has been improved through each season; the organization and management work is highly professional. This year's third season was exciting. My teammates and I have tried our best to win 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal in the men's doubles and mixed doubles. We would like to thank the Organizing Committee for their dedication to creating an ideal "meeting place" for journalists in the area so that we can meet, exchange and express our passion and spirit of sports competition".

Talking after the tournament, Director of Dong Ha City Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training Hoang Thanh Su shared: “After participating in the Quang Tri Journalists Association Open Badminton Tournament in 2023 with many good results, we have determined that this is an important tournament, from which there is interest in investing in the badminton training movement at the center.

This year, the center participated in all 5 competitions with the spirit of exchanging and exchanging expertise with excellent athletes from other units; the result was 3 gold medals and 1 bronze medal. We highly appreciate the ability, experience and determination of the athletes of the other teams. Hopefully, the Organizing Committee will continue to maintain the brand of this tournament in the system of official badminton tournaments in Quang Tri."

At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded gold medals to athlete Truong Thi Luu (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Dong Ha City) in the women's singles; awarded gold medals to athlete Hoang Kim Dung (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Hai Lang District) in the men's singles; awarded gold medals to the pair of athletes: Ho Dai Thang - Phung Bao Son (Quang Tri Radio and Television Station) in the men's doubles; awarded gold medals to the pair of athletes: Truong Thi Luu - Le Thi Anh Nguyet (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Dong Ha City) in the women's doubles; awarded gold medals to the pair of athletes: Hoang Thanh Su - Le Thi Anh Nguyet (Center for Culture, Sports and Physical Training of Dong Ha City) in the mixed doubles; awarded silver and bronze medals to athletes with high achievements in 5 competitions.

Mr. Hoang Ngoc Sy added: “The third season has many new steps forward, especially affirming the brand and quality of a sports playground for journalists in Quang Tri province, while continuing to create many positive effects for the development of badminton movements in press agencies and other agencies and units. We request that agencies and units continue to pay attention to, maintain and improve the quality of sports movements; create the best conditions for journalists, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers to have more opportunities to practice and compete in sports to improve their health to accompany all events of the homeland”.
