Vietnam women's volleyball team promises to shine at the VTV Cup 2023 international tournament

Since the beginning of 2023, the main players of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team have been competing continuously in a total of 19 international matches, so there are signs of overload. That is the reason why this team of players was given a break and did not participate in the second stage of the SEA V.League (from August 11 to 13 in Thailand) to recover. The coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team assessed that the VTV Cup International Women's Volleyball Tournament (from August 19 to 26 in Lao Cai) is an opportunity for the main players of the Vietnamese team to regain their competitive spirit, in order to prepare for the two important tournaments that will take place in a row after that - the Asian Championship in Thailand (from August 30 to September 6), and the 19th ASIAD in China (from September 23 to October 8). It is a pity that the number 1 striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy only participated in the Asian championship, then returned to Japan to play for the PFU BlueCats Club and could not compete with her teammates at the 19th ASIAD.

Competing with many opponents with different playing styles at the VTV Cup 2023 International Women's Volleyball Tournament is an opportunity for the two Vietnamese women's volleyball teams to hone their skills in all aspects. The round-robin format will then select the first and second-placed teams to compete for the championship. Similarly, the third and fourth-placed teams will compete for third place; the fifth and sixth-placed teams will compete for fifth place, helping the teams compete in many matches, increasing their chances of competing.

In order to ensure fairness and limit controversial sensitive situations, the Organizing Committee of the VTV Cup 2023 Volleyball Tournament also applied for the first time the magic eye technology similar to VAR in football. Notably, this year's tournament has an attractive prize structure, the highest ever with 12,000 USD for the championship title, 7,000 USD for the second place team, 5,000 USD for the third place team. In addition, there is a fourth prize (2,000 USD), style and encouragement prizes (1,000 USD) and 9 individual prizes (300 USD each). The tournament is an opportunity for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to review and select the optimal squad to participate in the Asian Championship and ASIAD.
